I know, odd title for the accessories section. I was -buying- an accessory, or looking for one and that's when I came upon an excellent example OF customer service. So I wanted to share the experience.

(R1)I was looking for a small red dot for my yugo m70. I did a stock job on this particular rifle and i didn't want to detract from it with some big ultimak handguard replacement. I also polished and bead blasted and blued all the metal work so i didn't necessarily want to replace the top cover with a TWS.

So... the MI minidot mount seemed like a perfect compromise. Not going to replace the front hand guard or the metal I worked to refinish.

Now I already have a primary arms m3 red dot: and I love this thing. It works - it's held zero - it's nice and clear. So I e-mailed primary arms on their website to ask them if they have their own brand red dot which fits any of the mi minidot mounts.

Then I'm bip bopping around on their website picking up some other stuff. Needed an extra trigger set (double hook g2), some extra tapco mags for $10 each, yadda yadda yadda. Meanwhile, not 10 minutes go by and I get a phone call. "Hello, Marshall speaking" (me), it's some dude from Primary Arms on the other end of the line...

He simply says Hi my name is (I forget, sorry bro), with Primary arms and I thought it'd just be easier to give you a call rather than sending e-mail back and forth. I reached over and sniffed my drink to see if I'd accidentally grabbed the wrong coffee out of the fridge. Nope, didn't smell like kahlua.

First off, it would easier to actually call and talk to the customer directly: instead of e-mailing me? When was the last time you heard that? Also, I looked at the clock. I was on the phone talking to this man for 10 to maybe 15 minutes and when I got off the phone it was 5:45pm. The guy literally called me up less than a half hour before closing time.

Soon as we started talking he began asking me about what kind of red dot or other sight I was looking for based on what I might need and during the conversation I explained everything in reference 1 found above. Very down to earth conversation, seemed like a real cool guy.

So he says to me that yes they make their own brand red dot which fits the mi minidot but they are out and won't have more till august. I told him i can wait, I didn't mind. He then notes, that I may want to try midwest industries website because they offer a package deal and may have some left. Primary Arms is partnered with MI, primary sells their mounts and mi sells their red dot to fit it.

So as soon as I got off the phone I went to mi's website and sure enough: package deal for $159, before shipping of course. To say I was satisfied with the customer service I received would be an understatement. I was expecting the usual status quo of I send an e-mail inquiry and receive a short half explained answer in 2 weeks.

Instead - I get a phone call before I'm even done browsing through their website less than 10 minutes later. I don't know if checking through the mail was the last thing he was doing today, if the stars are in alignment, good karma passed my way because I helped an old lady on the bus years ago...

No idea, I just know I received top notch customer service and because of that I became a re-peat customer.

I also know I'm getting a new minidot and sight to go atop my Yugo m70b1 and I'll post pictures once it's mounted: cause it's gonna be smexy!
