This may be simply stupid of me, given I have very little mechanical or legal knowledge of the subject, but I'm interested in starting a firearm project and was wondering whether it would be possible to convert a cx4 storm into a bullpup (not with the magazine through the grip like it already does but behind the grip). Basically my question is whether that is even mechanically possible and if so, would it be an expensive venture to have it done by a gunsmith? Would it be legal to basically make my own polymer "kit" or body for it as well? Also what is the minimum length for a civilian legal rifle? I'm aiming to create the most compact civilian legal rifle possible. Thanks for any replies!

Can't provide much info on converting anything, but what I can tell you is that most civilian rifles need a 16 inch barrel to avoid paying any fees. If you want the barrel any shorter, you gotta pay a Tax fee for a SBR, or short barrel rifle.

Apart from that, you need a 26" overall length. In a really compact bullpup, that may be hard to accomplish.
As to whether it's possible... well, I don't see why not, but I wouldn't no where to begin, and I have no idea who does, if anyone.

As the gun is already so much polymer - it's not really a type of gun that you can pull out of the stock and play with it. There are bullpup kits for other rifles - but I frequent tons of internet gun forums, and no one has even brought this concept up before.

I do not think it is possible. I would suggest getting a PS90 - Its 26", and you can get one for $1450-$1550 if U look around.

Iven if what you are asking for would be possible (which I doubt) - you would likely spend thousands to be the 1st one to come up with the design.

Actually, there is such a company. A small company in Montana that secializes in bullpup conversions of literally any rifle including big bore bolt actions.
