Does / Would Cycling heavy Chrome Pachmayr Snap Caps through a pump quickly as if they were live ammo damage /dent/chip the receiver on a Mossberg 500 pump shotgun?

I got these chrome Pachmayr snap caps. They feel heavy. I spent $70. I think maybe you should load, pump one into the chamber pull the trigger to de-cock and then carefully pull the forearm let it set in the receiver and then carefully remove it with your hands or gently let it fall out on the floor.

I did a really fast / vigorous pumping action trying to test it and I think I was destroying the receiver. They weigh way more then would an empty shell would be flying out of the receiver.

Am I an idiot? Are these designed for an over/under side by side and not for the purpose of testing action and cycling.

I feel I wasted $70 for these and want to return them/ sell them/ throw them in the trash. I seem no use for them for my reasons.

i use all metal aluminum snap caps in my win 1300 all the time and it dosent seem to do anything even though it may be a bit heavier i doubt its going to injure your gun unless its visibly damaged after using them i would be more worried about accidentally putting one through a window or something messing around with them lol.

I am returning them to Pachmayr/Lyman/A-Zoom and their customer service was impeccable. Then I am going to buy some A-Zooms which are lighter and friendlier for banging around.

From their thorough explanation:

the plastic ones will work and will break after cycling, so steer clear of them for "CYCLING" the action.

The A-Zooms in the middle are the best choice and can withstand the cycling and yet are lighter then the brass chrome plated ones.

The Chrome plated brass ones are more for show like at a gun show or a collector showing his side by sides’ o/u etc. and then releasing the trigger pressure onto them.

Hats off to Pachmayr and my premature rant should be forgiven!

:)

That is good service, with so many immature and novice people playing with their shotguns ( their shottys ) I don't see how they are making any money. IMOHO

I have three pairs of those chrome plated ones that are at least 25 years old, and they are still as good as new. You will not open an ejector SxS with them in it but one time without remembering.
