I don't have any experience with the sights you mentioned, but have replaced all the factory adjustable sights on my carry revolvers and most others with stronger, more finely adjustable sights from the good folks at http://www.milletsights.com
Your timing is impeccable. I just received my 629 back from C&S, where I had those sights installed (in addition to some other work). In short, I like them. I haven't taken it out for a test fire yet (it's cold here in Idaho and the range is outdoors), but the sight picture is great in my dry fire practice. These things are over-engineered to a faretheewell. I can't imagine that there is any way to damage them that won't damage the underlying gun.
These pictures have no artistic worth, and there is dust all over, but they do show the details of the sights:
I also have a model 629 and have been considering sending it to C&S to have those sights installed. How is C&S to deal with? I've heard good and bad. What was turn around time?
I got a set for Christmas and installed them on my 3" M66-6. I have not been able to get to the range yet. The sight picture with the Hi-Viz front sight is much better than with the original small V-Notch rear sight. Also, the do not catch on clothing like the tall V-Notch did. The better sight picture is just my opinion. I have a friend who loves the V-Notch.
Yup. I sent my initial request on March 23, 2005. They sent me a letter in late October, telling me it was time to send it in to them. I shipped it (UPS Next Day Air Saver) on Halloween. It was returned to me (FEDEX Overnight) on November 9, 2005.
Once they call for your gun, the turnaround is pretty quick for simple stuff.
I have Bowen's Rough Country rear sight installed on a Ruger GP-100 and it is excellent. Much sturdier than the factory sight and less likely to snag on clothing. I believe the sight is also available for S&W revolvers.
