Okay, the rear sight looks great. The front sight, however, is a big square blade that's way too high for any use. I'm supposed to have a gunsmith shape it and put the dot in there (to make it 3-dot) if that's what I want. I assumed that it came with a matching front sight.

On a normal S&W with the orange ramp front sight, that could work well. However, my 625 has a flat black "guaranteed to snag on draw" target sight.

What should I do? As common as S&W revolvers are, nobody makes decent service sights for them. XS sights doesn't even make anything for revolvers. They make 'em for the Desert Eagle, but not for revolvers. Crimeny.

I place no blame on Cylinder & Slide. Nowhere on their website do they state that it comes with a matching front sight, I merely assumed that.

Ooo-kay then. What should I do? What I want is fixed combat sights for my six-two-five, low-profile to avoid snags, and I'd like to send them off to Trijicon to have tritium lamps installed. Any suggestions?

Are you SURE it is too high? Mine (plain black, not three-dot) are pretty prominent:

Here're the sights. As you can see, the front sight is a blank suitable for customizing.

I did email C&S. They told me as follows:

The front sight that we ship with the Extreme Duty Rear Sight is a dovetail sight that has to be fitted to your revolver. The revolver barrel will need to have a .335X65 dovetail machined into the front sight base so that the dovetail front sight can be fitted to that. The sight is left as a square blank so that you can shape it to what ever style you want. The sight is way too tall so you can cut it down to zero with the ammo you want to use at what ever yardage you want. The dovetail is also wider than the sight base on the revolver so that you can drift the front sight to adjust the windage, then, you can file off the dovetail that sticks out on either side of the front sight base.

Again, I ask, what should I do with these? There's no hope for a simple installation with the front sight like that. Should I try to find a custom 'smith who can install the sights and mold the front sight, or should I send them back and keep looking?

Really, I just want a set of really rugged sights for my 625. Something that won't break if I drop the gun. The 625 is not a range pet for me. It's a working gun and working guns can get beat up in the field. Plus, I don't like the flat black sights.

I put the extreme duty sight on the rear of my M66-6 and kept the original front sight, Hi-Viz, on and it seems to work for me. If the front sight on your weapon is pinned, you could by a front sight, the size you need, from S&W to use with the C&S sight and not bother with customizing the front sight blank that came with the Extreme Duty sight system. XS Sights used to sell just the pinned front sight in both the small and large dot variety that would work also.
