I have a cz kelvar varmint 223 with a 1in9 twist 24 " barrel . It shoots sub moa with 55 grain v-max but shoots 3" groups with anything over 60 grains. I have a mini taget 223 with a 1in9 barrel and it loves 69 grain loads. I have tried countless different loads but it doesnt like heavy bullets. The reason I wanted a 1in9 was to shoot longer range . But after a year I gave in to the fact that this gun only shoot light loads. Has anyone else ran into this reloading for a rifle with a 1 in 9 twist?

The 527 has 1in 12 but the 527 varmint kevlar 24" has 1in 9. I checked the twist rate myself because I thought somehow they put a 1in 12 barrel on it.

Not in such an extreme form. I have a 12 twist that is more accurate than my 9 twist with 60 grain bullets but the difference is not nearly as much as you describe. And the 9 will shoot 69 grainers that the 12 can't handle.

243win yes that 527 has a 1in 12 but the model I am talking about is a varmint kevlar 24" with a 1in 9 thanks for the input anyway

Keep in mind its the length of the bullet that matters most, more than the weight. A boat tail with a long nose will always need a faster twist then a flat base bullet with a round nose. Did you see link i posted above.

Thanks for the link 243. Last night I threw the towel in and dumped all my loads for the CZ that arent 55 grn hornadys into a ammo can for plinking loads. There must be 30different loads in there neck size,fl size, new brass, different OAL . 5 different bullets and many cobinations of different powder and brass. I dicided to move on to my mini 14 target model .
