for a 1in9 twist .223, 69 or 77gr matchkings??

I finally have 99% of my reloading stuff together for my rifle fodder. all that is left is to get the powder, primers, and bullets.
and while i already know what bullet weight I'm getting for my .303 (174gr SMKs are a given there) i am still unsure as to which weight of MatchKing to use in my savage 12FV in .223.

so in a 1in9 twist factory barreled rifle that will be shot a 600yards at least once a year, hopefully more, which is a better bet 69gr or 77gr??

the 69s in the Black Hills match i used in my last match seemed to work fairly well but then again i've been told that the lighter ones can act up in the wind, but i'm a little concerned that the 77s might need a little faster twist. but since i don't know much about such things i'll defer to the judgement of others who know more/have more experience, in that regard.

1:9 will most likely not stabilize heavier than 75gr bullets. It works for some people, but not for others.

1:8 or faster is the better choice for 75-77gr.

68-69gr should shoot well from a 1:9

Friend of mine is getting good shooting from 75 gr Hornady Amax in a 9" twist. The 69 gr Sierra is more accurate on a calm day but the Hornady holds closer to the wind.

I have one barrel with a 9 twist, it won't shoot anything over 70 grains that I have found yet.

Mine likes the Hornady 68 match bullets.

I was shooting 80gr Noslers out 700P 1-9 twist with great accuracy. I think the conventional wisdom says no. But, untill you try it? You will not know!

My Savage 10 FP shoot lighter bullets quite well, but is a little finicky with 69 gr Matchkings. My best results are with Rem. bench rest primers and Varget, near the max loads listed in Sierra's loading manual. I haven't experimented with anything heavier, but I will some day. Good luck.
