I started my CZ40B as a gun mold for holster work. I use actual guns as often as possible as they give a cleaner holster than a mold...anyway.

I did an earlier thread on "What should I do to Customize it?" and this is what has transpired thus far.

Bobtailed the bottom of the back strap, upswept the beavertail, took the sharp edge of the front of the frame, undercut the trigger guard, polished the barrel crown and shroud, cut down the main spring to decrease the trigger pull weight, polished the slide rails/frame rails and has a 20# Wolff recoil spring.
Oh, the mag shown is a 12 rnds 40 S&W with a CZ Rami Base Plate. The RAMI was based HEAVILY on the 40B and the Base Plate shows that in its perfect fit.

Thought yould like to check it out.............Shoot well.

I'm still wanting one of those. I was planning on picking one up from CDNN when money got a little better. I downloaded the last catalog and noticed that they are not even listd anymore. May they have one hidden the warehouse that will suddenly show up when I call.

Have you decided what you are going to finish it in?

Walt.....the beaver tail is like a combo of an SA style and the 75B std....the very end of the beaver tail is squared off.

The differences are very subtle but make a difference in holding the gun.
Shoot well.

PCRCCW,
Looking good! Keep us informed as you go. Don't be afraid to do some wild. The good thing about doing custom work yourself on an inexpensive gun is that you can try new things and that if you mess up, it is not the end of the world. You may end up with something very cool. It is looking good so far.

I think the trick to doing any kind of custom work is to only do things that are useful or serve a purpose. Things that make it pretty are fine also but I stay away from changing a gun just to change it. For example, I wouldn't add something or take something off a gun unless it was to meet an idea I had. Just willy nilly cutting and chopping on a gun gets you a gun that looks different but nobody really wants. What you are doing is the way to do it. You are making it better in some way for you.

Well, the tools vary with the modification. Belt sander, hand files, sanding block....no dremel tool. Too easy to FUBAR things with them..I KNOW!

Before I do anything else..I need to get the trigger sorted out...the SA pull has a hitch in its giddy up....

Shoot well...

My CZ-40B had the same hitch in the SA pull. I have been told that it is part of the firing pin safety design and may not be fixable. It is not the best SA trigger I have felt, in fact, due to the creep, it is one of the worst. If you can fix it, let me know.

The accuracy of mine was very poor as well. I think I found one load it would shoot but I forgot which one it was. I sold the gun to my friend and he can't shoot well enough to tell the differnce so we are both happy. It was one of the best feeling double stack autos I have ever felt. It is by far the best double stack .40s&w I have ever felt. The BHP may have an edge but it is only SA and the safety and the sights on some models are poor. The BHP trigger is poor if the mag safety is not removed.

Looks like the slide is so far unmolseted. I still think you should Gun-Kote the frame in an unusual color when you're done. :)

I traded that to you before I really started to know and tweek the triggers on my CZs. I know I didn't touch the hammer hooks when I had it so there may still be some roughness there to be sorted out.

As for the FP safety, I've tried it disabled on my 75B and it didn't smooth up the pull for me, just made it a little lighter. There might need to be some polishing done on the contact surfaces of the FP safety parts in the trigger group if it still hangs up even after the hooks are cleaned up..

Are you going to try tinkering with the trigger yourself or are you thinking of sending it off?
