Which one and why? Factor in accuracy, cost, bang-for-buck, etc. Is the CZ worth the extra money?

I have fired both and the CZ won hands down. I actually took the loss on a new Savage MKII with accutrigger to get my old Marlin mod 60 I traded back.
Don't believe the hype.

I have both the cz being an American and the Savage being a $114 pre accutrigger. The Savage is remarkably accurate but the cz just drips quality. They don't belong in the same class IMO

I went to a local event where you give 'em a buck and they let you run 5-6 rounds through a rifle. Tried out the CZ, Savage and a bunch of other .22's. Made the choice to go with the CZ and have never regretted it.

I like the CZ but if you can't afford one, the Savage (or any other good bolt action .22) should also be a good choice.

The only bad thing about the CZ is that magazines for them cost about $40.

My MKII FVT is a very accurate gun. Its one of the few firearms that i can honestly say i will never even consider selling.

On that note, how many mags does a NIB CZ 452 Trainer come with?

Fella's;

I've owned the Savage MKII, pre-accutrigger. T'was a good gun, though it needed a little TLC, which I enjoyed doing. Nothing major, just stuff like cleaning all the left over "hair" out of the stock inletting due to a dull cutter, that sort of thing. In any case it turned into a very reliable 75 to 80 yard gopher shooter for me. I sold it to a friend who's son is also left handed & master eyed who wanted a starter gun for him.

I bought the CZ452 American after the Savage sold, so I never did a back-to-comparison, but there's no flies on the Savage.

One five round mag. That's one thing to consider I suppose. Additional mags are not cheap, they're around $30-35 each.

The CZ is very high quality. It is a fun that will last for several life times.

I looked at the savages, didn't like the way they are built. the mag release seemed very frail. I also don't like their reciever. The CZ has a solid reciever, to me the savage looks like a tin reciever.

I have a CZ 453 and love it. Makes me want to buy a whole bunch more.

Not even close. I have shot both and the Savage trigger is better and maybe more accurate (slightly) but there is no comparison overall. The CZ is a superb rifle and the nicest, most accurate I own, bar none.
