We just acquired a new 452 youth for our rifle club's junior program. What a great littleun. Has a sigle shot adapter and a 5-round magazine. The wood and metal are superb, and therigger pull is relatively light and crisp. Now let's see how it holds up.

Noban - Handled one of those rifles at a local gun store today and it definitely has a lot of the quality features of my "full scale" 452. I can't wait for a range report from you, so please, when you get a chance, post one!! Thinking of buying the rifle for my youngsters.

One thing that I wasn't too keen on was the rear sight, and its adjustment. Elevation seemed to be adjusted by sliding a simple ramp, but I couldn't feel any definite graduations. I was in a bit of a hurry and didn't get a chance to check out how to adjust windage. Any comments?

THANKS

Oopps! I just went to CZ's website, and they list the rifle I handled today as the 452 Scout. Are we talking the same rifle? Comments welcomed either way.

Noban, if you don't mind me asking, what was the $ on that rifle?

I would sure like to get something like that for the grandkids.

I bought that same rifle for my GF's son to shoot and also another for my nephew. After sighting it in with a Bushnell scope, I shot four five shot groups at 50 yards. Two could be completely covered with a dime, the other two with a nickel. I then turned the boy loose with it! He loves it! Its an excellent rifle! Far, far nicer than my Marlin youth rifle!

I got one for my 9 year old daughter. She is 11 now. Last weekend she taught my 7.5 year old nephew to shoot with it (I was watching very carefully!) She loves it, he loved it, it is very accurate. If you were at the Angeles Range in Los Angeles last Sunday you might have seen us at the 35 yard pistol gongs. She would regularly shoot 9 or 10 out of 10 with that thing.
The bolt is a little on the tight side, so she had to learn to slap it up to open.
CZ Scout: don't think you will find a more accurate youth rifle.
She is left eye dominant, so shoots left handed. I wish it was available left handed, but she makes it work.
She will be getting a Marlin .44 mag lever (16" ported) for her birthday soon.
With low powered cowboy loads, should be a good way to work up to hunting.

I think that is what Santa is bring my daughter this year

Also available in pink, if she is in to that sort of thing. I found a used one cheap and couldn't pass it up even though my daughter has about 6 or 7 years before she'll be ready to shoot.

She is left eye dominant, so shoots left handed. I wish it was available left handed, but she makes it work.

Any issues with that? It is looking more and more like ours may be left handed.

Guys - I stand corrected. The model designation is Scout, not youth. I'll ask the felow in the club who bought it for us how much he paid and I'll get it out of the safe this weekend and check on that rear sight elevator.

Thanks, Noban. I'm curious if it's easy to adjust windage as well. P51D
