not if the barrels end up costing $200

How many good barrels don't cost $200?

Sako Quad barrels retail in the mid 200s, for example.

Sure, some 10/22 barrels are cheaper, but they have a very simple, not to say crude, attachment system, and the end-user has to fit them. They're not pop-on/pop-off interchangeable.

Also, I tend to like my guns sighted in. If I grab a rifle, I want to be able to drive down the road and shoot it, not have to zero it first.:)

Again, it's a "neat" feature, but not a selling point to me.

No idea - I've never needed to shop for barrels before. My point was that if the barrels are cheapish - like a hundred bucks or so (e.g. the H&R/NEF single-shots) - I can see myself being attracted to the idea of .17HMR and .22LR out of the same gun, especially a CZ. For $200+, not so much; I may as well just go out and buy a whole 'nother rifle for that or a bit more.

Personally, I really never did get excited about caliber swapping. Like the Encore guys who say, "But I can get another barrel, scope and mount for only 700 dollars, and I can shoot another caliber with the same gun!" Who cares? For one thing, that other caliber is still in an Encore...
Exactly my sentiments.

I have been hearing about the 455 for a while now...any word as to when it is to be released?

:)

Thanks for the info...look forward to seeing the results, hopefully the 455 will be a big hit, and folks will start dumping those POS 452s. ;)

I heard they were shipping now, but most distributors don't have them yet.

The distributor I deal with has a few, but I can't justify ordering any because all my customers want is the cheapest .22, with the biggest box of the crappiest ammo they can find for their beer can and plastic bottle hunting expeditions.

We sell the 452 American for $399, all I hear is " how can a .22 cost that much?" "that's ridiculous." It also kills me how people will drop $900-$1400 on some AR-15 junk, but spending $700 for a model 70fw is to much money to them.

You aren't kidding! For some unknown reason, a lot of people think that a 22 is a toy of some fashion and should not cost more than a brick of ammo for the same gun! lol hehehehe

We put together AR's that have everything but the kitchen sink bolted on them...and I think if someone could figure out how to put a blender on one, they would! lol
