I saw one of these in a store yseterday. It wasn't marked with a model number, so I'm not sure which it was. It was marked 7.65mm, and had "made in Chechoslavakia" stamped on the frame. Brown plastic grips with the CZ logo, and that's about it. It was priced at $149., and being the cheapie that I am, I almost bought it.
What I'm wondering is, how reliable are these? They are older models, and I know new CZ's have a great reputation. It looks like a great glove box gun, but I would also like to plink with it. Is it ammo picky, can I use any 32acp ammo in it?
Thanks for any suggestions.

The one you describe sounds like a 50(or a 70 with 50 grips) as the 70's have black grips, at least all the 70's I've seen have. I have a 70, which I put 50 grips on, as I like the way they feel and look better. The grip shape is also a little different. They are well made little pistols with decent SA triggers, but the DA trigger is horrible. Mine requires two hands to pull it.

You may or may not have some problems with functioning mostly due to the the mags. When I first got mine, I was having the same problems a number of people over on the CZ board were reporting about feeding and mag capacity. It seems the mag springs are the real culprit and you can get new replacements from Wolff for cheap. Replacing the springs, and doing a minor modification to the front of the mag have made mine 100%. I did the modification before swapping the springs, so I suspect it really wasnt necessary. I'd try the springs first if its an issue.

Its a fun little pistol to shoot and accurate. I just shoot ball out of mine.

i thought about buying one before too

but just to have for coolness sake. That round is sort of on the mild side for self defense and both the cz's you mention have super short barrels. You cold probably get better ballistics out of a .22 cal CO2 pistol.

Still it would be neet to have.

Pretty good little guns, with some having metal a little on the soft side (seen where the underside of the slide hits the hammer during the firing cycle.) The slide sometimes has to be replaced.

The one I had would consistently outshoot a friends new PPKS.

I don't think the round is "mild" for self-defense; I think its anemic, but stilll better than a pointed stick. I much prefer the 9x18 available in the slightly larger Makarov or the .380 used in my much more-concealable Kel-Tec P3AT.

The CZ-50/70 is kinda big for the round, and .32 acp isn't cheap.

I sold mine for more than I paid for it.
