How accurate are these rifles compared to say a Savage or Remington 700 chambered in .223?

Quality is also a factor.

For several years a CZ527 in .223 was my walking around varmint rifle. It was very accurate for a thin-barreled, light rifle. The test target came with a 3 shot .75" group and I could frequently better than with good reloads.

I would say the CZ was as accurate if not better than comparable Remingtons. I can't say about Savage because I've never owned one.

The CZ however was not without it's issues.

The feed lips on the detachable magazines were razor sharp and gouged the brass to the point where I was unwilling to reload it. I had the magazine lips smoothed out by a local gunsmith.

I could not get the single set trigger adjust to suit me. Either the set was unacceptably light or the standard pull was too heavy.

The safety operated in the opposite direction to North American guns. Back for fire, forward for safe. If you thought of the safety as a cocking lever or hammer it made sense but the manual of arms was very different than my other bolt actions rifles.

CZ 527

I have had a CZ 527 for over two years now. I agree with those above about accuracy, although it took me several months to come up with an accurate load. Mines shoots between .5 and .75 inch three shot groups, as the barrel heats up things open up a little. I have had no problems with the lips of the magazine scratching cases on mine. The trigger is odd looking, to me, but I have gotten used to it and have no problems. I looked at savage rifles when I was buying a .223 and everytime I picked up a (light barreled) savage, they felt really cheap. The CZ's have much better fit and finish. Overall I found the CZ to be a keeper.

I can get sub 1" groups out of mine with Win white box from Wally World. It was a great price too.
I have a friend with one in .22 Hornet. It's just as nice.
I think the magazine & mag well is a little less than pretty. There's a site on out there somewhere with detailed instructions on how to pretty it up, but you loose 2 rounds of mag capacity.
Mine came without the scope rings (the "American" model includes rings). One call to CZ-USA cleared that up, they shipped the next day.

Overall, I like it. YMMV

Finally put a scope on CZ 527 American bought last year. While siteing it in, the first groups shot were under .5 in @ 100 yds. (3 shot groups from double sand bags using Win white box "varmint" loads). Am quite pleased with it's accuracy, considering the scope is fixed 4x. Federal XM193 went into 1.5-2.0 inches.
inches. The factory target included with the rifle was reason it got bought.

The set trigger was much too light for my tastes, and tightened it up a little. The standard trigger pull is rough, and significantly increases the group size. It needs a trigger job or broke in.

Fit and finish of the rifle is high quality , deep bluing and good wood. There was NO copper to be removed from the barrel, after 2 different range sessions. Am planning on keeping it.
