My friend is looking for a standard sized 223 rem bolt rifle blued with a walnut stock and is leaning toward the cz 527 american. I was wondering what kind if accuracy he should expect from it if anybody has expierience with one.

I have the CZ 527 Varmint, not the American.
I just wanted to tell you to tell your friend to check the twist rate on the rifle. If it is 1:12 then he will be limited to the mid range bullets, around 55 grains. If it is 1:9 like mine, he will be able to shoot the heavier bullets.

I would expect it to be very accurate and precise.

Mine shoots everything from 35 grain up to 75 grain at 1" MOA. I can provide photos of the targets if needed.

Also, the rifles are 5.56 NATO chambered, so you can shoot 5.56 ammo without concern to pressures, I have shot several rounds of M855 through mine, still 1 MOA.

I have a CZ .204, which inspired me to buy a 453 Varminter .22, which got me to buy a .22 Hornet. If I had to buy a rifle for less than $1,000 to shoot a sub 1" group, it would be a CZ.

Thanks for the help, it is a 1:9, and i didn't know it is chambered for 5.56 nato

I have the 1:12 Varmint barrel, wood stock. I am happy with it. IMO it shoots MOA or is MOA capable. I can not comment on the Merican

I have to agree with Redneck's post. I have a 527 American in 204 and it shoots great. It is one of my favorite rifles among ones that are far more expensive. I would not hesitate to buy one in .223 especially with 1:9 twist.
