I have a CZ 527 I bought recently. The gun came with the scope rings. The rings are actually very well made but also very high. So high I can't get the gun to print on paper and my gunsmith can't boresight. He suggested I try some lower rings and I agree. At least it will look better (right now the scope looks odd since it is way above the rifle). Has anyone else had this problem and what rings did you buy? I found some Leupold and Burris rings for the 527 but both are medium and high. I would like to have low mounts. By the way I am using a Leupold 3x9 40mm Objective. With the light contour barrel I would think lows would work but maybe I would need mediums. The gun smith said I could shim the rear but he suggested I try lower mounts first. I have some low mount Burris rings off a Weaver style mount but they cannot screw down far enough to fit the weaver type mount machined into the rifle's reciever. Anyway if anyone has any ideas let me know.

As far as the rifle goes I really like it. It is in caliber 222 Rem. It has a drop dead gorgeous stock (the reason I bought it). The rifle appears to be of very good quality. The action is very smooth. The best feture is the set trigger. After the gun is cocked locked and ready to shoot, just push the trigger forward to set it and you have a crisp trigger at less than a pound. If you do not want to use the set trigger just pull the trigger as normal for a 4-5lb crisp trigger. I wish all my bolt rifles had this trigger. The rifle has almost no recoil. I just can't get it on paper at 100 yards.

where to buy them
Try your local gun store. (Is this where you bought it? They should have them. If not, they can order them). Mine has all kinds of Millet rings, along with the Leupold, Burris, Weaver, Sako et al.

I like the CZ set trigger, too.

Brazos,

I have a CZ550 in .270. It came with Millett rings and they didn't fit snug in the rear cutout on the left of the receiver so I got movement. I suggest you look at Warne or Talley. They are high quality and mine fit exactly into the cutout. Talley's are probably the most expensive.

Both sites are on the internet, so call 'em up and tell them what you have, I'm pretty sure they can help with your selection

I put scopes on two of my CZ rifles just yesterday.
A 452FS and 527 7.62x39.

I used CZ factory rings in both cases.
CZ factory rings only come in high because of the design of the bolt.
Brazos, open your bolt and run it back and see how much clearance you have between it and your scope.

If you go to a lower ring will you have enough clearance?

I bought a set of Leupold medium rings for the 527 but decided not to use them because of the design of the recoil lug.

Both my newly mounted scopes were dead on as mounted according to my Leuplod boresighter by the way, but I have not actually shot the guns yet.

If you do want to try different height rings these folks have good prices and good service-

Ring Hieght

Thanks everyone for the recomendations. B27, I researched last night after posting and found the same as you told me. CZ supplies high rings because the bolt won't clear the scope if they are any lower. I found the same to be true after I looked at how the bolt came back. That is probably why most people list rings in medium and high only (though Millet listed lows which I find curious). The CZ rings that came with the rifle seem to be very well made so I am going to try to shim them before buying new rings. Basically I am out of elevation. The gun shoots way low. The gun smith was able to get the scope boresighted w/i an inch of center at 100 yards but max out the elevation. Windage is dead on. Hopefully I can get some elevation after shimming. I did put a post on how to shim under the gunsmithing section if anyone has any advice. My back up plan is to use B-Square adjustable mounts. I have these on my air rifle and am familiar with the way they work. They do make them for the 527. Hopefully this won't be nescessary since the are expensive. I feel like something is out of wack but nothing appears to be. Afterall my scope on the carry handle of my AR-15 is much higher and I didn't have this problem. Sad deal really. I really like the rifle and as I mentioned earlier the stock is spectacular and seemed to be a sweet shooter even though I couldn't hit anything.

CZ 527

I have a 527 in 222 Remington also. No problem sighting in at 100 yards using the CZ rings. Something doesn't seem right with your rings...???
Keep us posted as to how you solve the problem...

I used the CZ rings too. They didn't come with the gun on the Varmint model though. I think they should! Anyway, the rings worked great and didn't require much to sight in. No shimming required or anything. Sorry to hear you are having trouble.
