Which one has proven itself to be more reliable and durable pistol in your opinion/experience? I DO NOT want to start a new 9 -45 war.

I've had a few CZ's and found them to be below average in reliability. I'm sure 25 others will tell you they are the greatest gun made but my personal experiences were different. If a 1911 is put together right they are pretty good on average but many are not well made. I have no personal experience with the S&W 1911 but have heard good things about them.

I've put thousands of rounds through my CZ75, with one jam, and it happened in a timed, scored shoot:cuss: Very good reliability with my S&W 1911, also. Either one would serve you well;)

Comparing a CZ to a Colt, etc., there isn't any clear winner in reliability or durability. They are made of similar grade materials by similarly skilled technicians. Both will last a lifetime or three if taken care of properly.

Yep.

+2

Now this was short and to the point. And accurate as well.:neener:

I have a CZ 75B Compact and an SW1911, and this is an apples & oranges comparison if there ever was one, I like them both but for very different reasons. The compact may become my CCW, so I'd probably give it a very slight edge in reliability over the SW1911, but the SW is still very reliable.

This little 9mm CZ is definitely more reliable out of the box than my .40S&W CZ 75B Duo-Tone was, but once I had the .40 reworked it ran without a hitch - skeeter_08
