CZ-75 Kadet .22lr : Does anything else compare?

OSS, Same Thoughts Here

All of these conversion kits are nice and some are accurate. But I want a pistol that feels like a pistol...genuine, solid steel. Most .22LR conversions are aluminum. I looked into the Jarvis, but they are being sold to a company in Boise. After several weeks of e-mail attempts, I called the company. The (I think) owner called me back, and directed me to "Tactical Solutions", at 208-333-9901. I wonder if they offer any, or if they plan to? This was a great post. Thanks for the info all. For my part, I think I'll go the 9MM and add the kit.

Yes. It'll work with any 75B-based design (Compact in 9mm/.40, Compact D, PCR, P-01, SP-01, 75B, 75BD, 85B, 85 Combat). It will even work on *some* pre-B models, although I've had several it wouldn't fit (hammer is too wide).

Some fitting may be required. Instructions come with it. Mine didn't need fitting on the 85 Combat, but it won't fit on my Compact or when I had one, a 75B in .40. (It could have been made to fit, but it already fit my 85 Combat...)

Before I got to fire it I was a bit worried about some posts I had seen about stovepipes, light strikes, and the slide not locking back on the last round. I have yet to see any of these problems.

I've never shot any .22 that wasn't finicky about cheap ammo, except my first 10/22, bought circa 1972. But back then we didn't use the cheap, crappy ammo available today so I can't even say that was the case.

So far my Kadet has been 100 percent when using quality ammo. When using the bulk stuff from WalMart that costs $5 for 700 rounds, I will occasionally get a light strike or a stovepipe, but not nearly as often as my buddy does with his Buckmark or my brother does with his 10/22. Even with cheap ammo it's as reliable as any .22 autoloader pistol I used as a kid in the 1970s.

CZ75B and CZ85B

are basically the same gun. The 85B is a 75B with ambi controls. Yes the Kadet kit will work on the 85B.

The P22 does not even come close to the Kadet. The Kadet is far and away a better pistol.

What ever you do, do not shoot Remington Thunderbolts out of your kadet (or anything for that matter).

Remington Thunderbolts

Why? I have a box of them but haven't used any yet. What fate awaits me?

I'm all about the conversion kit thing. The availability of a conversion kit is a major selling point with me.

I've got a Kadet kit, Beretta .22LR for my Vertec, and each of the Marvel Kits. The Beretta is OK, the Unit 2 is good, the Unit 1 is great, but the Kadet is by far the most fun.

One of the things that sold me on CZ (other than the great ergos, good trigger, and quality craftsmenship) was the availability of a good factory .22 kit. As soon as I can afford a Kadet kit (my gun budget is blown for a while), I'll be giving my Ruger MKII, which I love, and is accurate and reliable, to my dad, because he doesnt have a .22 auto and well, I owe him for all the food, heat, light, books, clothes, and rent he's paid for for the last 24 years:cool:

With a handle like OSS How can you not think about a Colt Woodsman, one of the 22lr sidearms of the OSS...

I will take my Woodsman over any other semi 22 out there, might not be as accurate but runs with most of them.

Anybody know if the Kadet kit may work on a Baby Eagle? I know the slide design are supposed to be close to eachother, but never looked at them next to eachother. I'm guessing it won't, but figured I'd ask.

From reading the website, the kit works for the full-sized as well as the compact models? What fitting modifications may be needed with it, and are they something anybody can do, or would a gunsmith-type be needed?

Well

It took me days to get all of the lead out after shooting the Thunderbolts. I litteraly had 1/8 inch strips of lead coming out of the rifling.

The kadet kit will not work on the Babyeagle.

No.

I don't think the EAA kit works on the BE, either.

While Tanfoglio makes the basic Witness and Baby Eagle guns, there are differences -- and I've not seen any of the slides work across brands.

A Marvel Conversion kit mounted on a good 1911 frame compares, favorably. Actually, its a good bit more accurate and just as reliable. If I had $400 to spare, I'd give serious thought to a Marvel kit for my SIG GSR.

(Marvel guarantees a top-end capable of sub 1" groups at 50 yards. My Kadet Kit is quite accurate, but not quite THAT accurate.)
