In NJ anything over 15 rds is illegal. Trying to find Mec Gars in 15 rd capacity now that everything is 16 rd without paying $30 to $40 /mag is rediculous. I know Pro mags suck, but if I can get them for $11 ea, then pick up Wolf mag springs and replace the factory spring and come out 1/2 the price. Has anyone done this or thought about it? There are other options, but I am trying to avoid $60 in gas and tolls to go to a show in PA. I could buy 16rd and block them to 15 and legally have them in NJ, but I still have to travel. $60 in Gas could be $60 in ammo.

Thanks

Tbtrout,

A lot of people make that statement, but I have had good luck with 10 Round Pro Mags in .40 S&W that I used in my 9mm CZ75b and CZ75bd and CZ75-P01. I used them all the time in IDPA, and USPSA and I haven't had any problems. All are still on the original springs. I get 13-14 rounds of 9mm goodness in these magazines. Not as nice as my Mec-Gars, but they do work. Here in NYS we 10-round mag limits on post 94 guns.

good luck in your search,

best regards,

Luis Leon

Hi TBtrout,

I currently live in Oregon but will be moving to NJ sometime later this year. I decided to start looking for 15 round mags for my CZ 75B early and found that they are difficult but not impossible to find. In 6 months I have been able to aquire 2 CZ 15 round mags and 2 Mecgar branded 15 round mags. I paid $25.00 on average for them. Keep an eye on gunbroker and other auction sites as they will come up occasionally. I would also put a WTB ad on this site or the CZforum.

I have never tried promags but have not heard good things
14 Round mags for the compact do not fit the full size CZ.
I was also considering plugging my 16 round mags but they have a witness hole with 16 stamped next to it and did not want to chance it.

What part of NJ are you in? I will be moving to the Cherry Hill area.

Good Luck

"Shall not be restricted" comes to mind....

I think it's stupid that law abiding people like us have to jump through hoops just to stay legal. When the guy going that will use a gun for crime will never look at the 15 round law.

I give you a thumbs up for following the rules though, and having a CZ.

Thanks for the replies. I am inclined to try the Pro mags. I have wasted more money for less.

AKA Zero, there are a lot of dumb regs here, but the consequences of being the media posterchild for breaking them is a real deterrent. Even if you re following the laws you are guilty until proven innocent here.:banghead:

The scary thing is there are a few worse states than here:eek:

I have used Pro Mags, I have heard bad things about them, but I never had any issues.

Yep, there is always california.... another perfect example of gun control not working.

I've been using a pair of 15-rd promag's for my 75 for the last 6 months without issue.

I to live in NJ and last week bought a 75B 9mm also looking for 15 rounders. Pro Mags do suck but at this point there seems to be little choice. I spoke with a guy on one of the CZ forums and he said besides Pro Mag any EAA mags will work. Thought I would throw that out.

Buy some 10-round CZ-75 .40 cal mags. Then tweak the feed lips a little bit, and load them with 15 rounds of 9mm. They fit, feed, function, and eject perfectly, and only have witness holes marked 3, 7, and 10.
We did this before the ban expired. Worked great.

I have some cz promags and they work. They aren't quite as nice as mec-gar or factory and the springs aren't as strong. Try them stock and upgrade the springs later if need be. Mark

In my experience, anything other than CZ or Mec-gar for CZs are crappy. This includes my time spent with the Pro-mags.

Some might be OK for the range, but I'd not trust my life with them.

You might want to consider buying a RAMI or Compact for carry in NJ.

Lots of hate for the ProMags, and while I'm not defending them I have and continue to use them for my CZ75 P01 CZ75bd and CZ75b with no problems whatsoever. I guess I'm the only person to experience this. I guess I should throw them out, because they suck? I used two .40 promags in my CZ75b in 9mm this past Saturday at a 3-gun match in Hartford, CT and they ran just fine along side my other mec-gar magazines.

I feel for you.

steveracer: Wow, I never heard that.

I buy 16 rd Mec-Gar's new for $18 at my local gun show. They perform flawlessly as-is.

I'll probably have get the Wolff springs and new base plates someday, but maybe I'll just buy new mags..... :))

1SOW, We did that with CZs, back when they were HS2000s, and we did it with 92FSs, and HiPowers. The mags work pretty well, and every 10-round .40 mag I tried could be made to hold 15 or 9mm.
Most of the time, all it took was closing the feed lips a little with a brass hammer.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I have a related question. I just received my CZ 75B and the box is marked as a 15 round model, however the two magazines it came with have 16 next to the bottom hole. Can anyone confirm the capacity of these?
