I know the CZ 85 has ambidexterious safety but what other differences are there? Does it fit your hand differently? Does it take the same magazines as the 75? Is this a stupid question? :) Oh and this might be my first handgun.

The 85B is only different than the 75B in that it has an ambi-safety and slide release. These are musts if you're left-handed and simply nice if you'd like to practice with either hand.

The 85 Combat is a different animal. It still has the ambi controls, but it also has a variety of finishes available, an adjustable rear sight, an adjustable trigger, and no firing pin block that some people think messes up the trigger pull somewhat on the B models. Oh yeah, the 85 Combat also allows the mags to drop free American style as it ditches the magazine retention spring found on "lesser" CZs, though both 75 and 85Bs can be easily end user modified to "relax" the spring. The mags are interchangeable and I don't know why the mag release isn't reversible when all of the other controls can be ambi.

Thanks for the help

Guess I'll look at the 85. Maybe later the 83 and the 97 too. CZ seems pretty popular. How are their rifles? I'm thinking of getting a nice .308 for boar and Deer (and other delicious animals) :) hunting in Texas and other nearby states. Thanks all!

PS. Anyone here watch Anime? Specifically Hellsing? That show would fit in nicely here. LOTS of firearms in that show.

I have an 85 Combat. I like the adjustable sights, if you were to carry it you might like the standard sights better, or check out the new "tactical" model that is green and black and has Novack style sights. The PCR also has carry type sights I think.

The trigger on my 85 Combat is very nice. A reduced power hammer spring lightened up the DA pull a bit. Very smooth. The trigger is adjustable for over-travel with a set screw. It is set at the factory with loc-tite. It is a nice feature. Combat model is also available in nickel and in the blued finish which I have. Mag release is also extended version (sticks out slightly more). As mentioned it also has drop free mag feature. Makes a good IDPA gun. The Dealer Warehouse still has some BD's for sale for $319 which is a great price. If you don't need the ambi controls.

You really can't go wrong with any of the CZ's in my opinion. I would like to get an 83 and a 97 someday too.

I have a CZ 75 in 9mm that I'm quite fond of. I think CZ's are the best value going these days

I have a 75BD and an 85 Combat!

Both are terrific pistols! They both use the same magazines (there are hicap mags available), they feel the same in the hand, and, for me, they both shoot quite well. I find the 75 BD to be a better carry weapon and less so the 85. Wouldn't trade either. Good shooting;)

I also have a CZ-85 Combat. I think the adjustable sights alone are worth the extra money, and you also get the drop free mag release and trigger overtravel adjust. I love mine and would say it's easily worth $200 more than the selling price in performance.
