I just bought a CZ75 in Nickel. I picked it up last week and shot it this weekend. I shot less than 20 rounds thru it. Upon taking it apart to clean it I feel some weird flakes on the slide. After investigating I see that almost all of the nickel plating on the slide is gone, and after about one magazine!

Is this normal?

I brought the gun back to where I bought it and they took just the slide and sent it back to CZ...so hopefully something good will happen.

Does anyone else have a nickel or stainless one with a problem like this?

Thanks!

:uhoh::confused: All of it? Even the exterior surfaces? Or just on the friction surfaces?

Even on the friction surfaces it should not be flaking off, though. At most, it should be just burnished. Electroplated - if that is what this is - nickel is supposed to have copper plating under it, to give the nickel something to adhere to.

Sorry, I don't know the pistol part terms that well...but when taking apart the gun the parts that touch when sliding it on and off, and while firing, the nickel was completely gone...all chipped off.

Yes that is what I thought and told the dealer...if it came off so easy wouldn't the rest just peel off or rust quicker in the exposed areas?

By the way the gun shot beautifully and I love it. Can't wait to get this slide back though. Its hard to have a non working gun in the nightstand!
