I'm thinking about getting a CZ-75, and I'm trying to decide which finish I want to get (for one in .40S&W). I'd love a stainless, but its only available in 9mm. So I'm looking at the 'satin nickel' finished one, but I'm wondering about the durability of the finish.

Also, I'm trying to figure out what the aesthetic and durability differences are between their "polycoat" and "blued" finishes - as near as I can tell, the poly might be a bit weak and vulnerable to scratching, whereas the blued is fairly traditional and a bit more shiny. I'd probably get the blued version, failing any positive input re: satin nickel finish.

So, what of the satin nickel finish? As durable as chrome? Flake easily? Scratch easily? This gun will be for shooting (I'll also be getting the Kadet .22LR upper) as well as CCW, so the pistol will see a bit of daily wear and tear; how will it hold up compared to 'traditional' bluing, and what might my options be for refinishing it? Is the finish bonded to the steel, or is it just a coating?

Thanks.

In terms of Blued vs. Polycoat, the Poly is vastly superior. CZ's polycoat starts with a parkerized finish followed by a black powdercoat. The Blued finish is more suseptible to scratching and rust.

Stainless is still stronger than the Satin Nickel. I hear the nickel will hold up well but even though I have a satin nickel, I can't really give you any advice since I've only had it for a week.

In terms of (CZ) finish strengths, I'd rank the finishes from strongest to weakest like this:

Stainless
Polycoat
Satin Nickel
Blued

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Unfortunately, that polycoat is ugggggly - and stainless is only available in 9mm. :(

I had the CZ 75B in Satin Nickel before I sold it to fund my CZ PCR. I had replaced the grips with the Hogue ones with the finger grooves. The only issue I ever had was the the combination of sweat with those grips seemed to tarnish the finish.

Tarnish remover took it right off.

Satin Nickel is a nice finish. Especially with those grips.

Tarnish remover, like silver polish?

What about nickel 'replating' or refinishing, if it ever wears? How long have you had your cz75 and in what role have you used it?
