I have the opprotunity to purchase a CZ75 from a co-worker. He recently got it when a person owed him some money and lost thier job. In leiu of cash, the guy gave him 2 handguns. This CZ is one of them. I'm unfamiliar with this brand so bear with me on any basic questions.
It's a blued model with the CZ loga and "MODEL 75 cal. 9 para" on the slide. The trigger gaurd is round unlike current ones I see and the trigger is the conventional curved style rather than the straight ones on some 75's I've seen pics of. Fixed rear sight with dots and front ramp with white line. I'd say a 4" bbl. Black plastc grips. Serial # is a "D" followed by 4 digits. (slide and frame match #s). Some pfroofmark and a "90" is just above the extractor.
Anyone shed any light on this handgun. Decent price to offer?

Sounds like a Pre-B (Type A) made in 1990. I have one with MMC
adjustable nites and some other work.

Your sights might be aftermarket, as most 75 sights are tiny like
1911s or older HPs.

Consider that each high-cap mag is worth $45-50 alone.
I 've paid anywhere from $125 to $400 for Pre-Bs.

Actually prefering the older guns over the 75B. The supply
of Pre-Bs is drying up. Better buy it. I know one guy who
only collects CZ75s. He has about 15 of them now!

Sounds like older (80s- early 90s) CZ75 as opposed to CZ75B; people at CZ Forum swoon over them the way some folks do over Colt Series 70s. It is definitely a very fine handgun (assuming mechanical function & finish are ok). I've owned both and currently own a 75B. Standard mags (15 rd) are readily available for aprox $30-$35. I personally think it's the best practical 9mm made (and I have owned and loved S&W, Browning, Glock, Walther, HK, & Colt 9mm semi-autos). I've carried Beretta 92 (which I neither own nor love) round most of the planet and in harms way. I still think that the Czech manufactured CZ 75/85 series is the best there is for a combat 9mm and is hands down the most pistol for the money. NIB go for $300-$400 depending on what part of country you are in. Used (no wear/little firing)...offer $225-250. If I really, really wanted it, I'd go a bit higher (maybe $270) because any way you cut it, the gun is the equal of firearms costing twice as much.

BTW: Are your grips flat or do they have a swoopy thumbrest on the left panel? The thumbrest panel is standard for a lot of the 75B production. The CZ75 was originally issued w/ flat panels (with some "checkering" molded into the panels).

It's a deal if the price is right...You won't be sorry.

I hate to hear stories like that. The "pre-B" CZ-75 is a real nice pistol. Unless he just doesn't care too much for 9mm, it probably hurt that guy to give it up.

Around here in the middle of BFE, that gun would go for about $300-350 if it's in really good shape, but then again everything seems expensive here. :(

Do a search here for CZ-75 and you will find that their owners usually have an appreciable fondness for them. Hang www.czforum.com for a while and you will develop an unsatiable desire to collect them all! :p

You have a very very nice gun. All of the stuff told to you is all excellent information except for that "CZF" guy....We suspect he's a troll! :D...Kidding, Kev.

The gun is one of the most 3 copied designs in the world. PERIOD.
Its been called the best double action handgun ever put into combat.
Many many people would tend to agree with them....Im one of them.

The gun you have is a great gun....You can catch a review of the gun somewhere on this Forum, by Stephen Camp. Hes an excellent writer and gives the most comprehensive and eloquent write ups youll have the blessing to run across.

The trigger on your gun is, most likely, one of the best in DA handguns.
Its very accurate and a runner, very very dependable.

Check out the CZForum at www.czforum.com They have a Classic 75 Club where you can get very overwhelmed with information very quickly..they are also a very very nice group of guys..Hey, Im one of them, I can say that! :D

You did very well....dont let the low price for what most would pay for it, fool you. Go shoot it and let us know what you think....I suspect two things....First :what: Second :D

Shoot well

The "90" above the extractor means it's a 1990 production gun. That's a Pre-B model without a firing pin safety. Good guns, but not all the current series parts will work in the older guns. Don't try any aftermarket mags either, as the dimensions of the mag well have changed since then as well.

My CZ 75B is a great gun. Probably the most practical one to keep if I could only keep one. Thank goodness I don't have to make that choice (yet).

Both good guns. I prefer the look of the spur hammer on the older. Both have good triggers and are reliable and accurate. Both would get upgraded sights if I chose to carry them.

I've had no problems with magazines, but all mine are factory or Mec-Gar.

Thanx fellas. I went and bought( lay-away-plan) it on your responses. Came with one pre-ban mag and a nice little soft case. I'll be paying $200. Good deal I guess? maybe that and my new Ruger SBH 45 Hunter will make range debuts at the same time this weekend.:)
