So i took the newly acquired cz-82 to the local range today to shoot it for the SECOND time ever. Only had time to put about 50 rounds of brown bear through it and it ran great. Very accurate little pistol. HOWEVER, i had two times (different mags) where i would fire in SA, and the pistol would fire then return itself to DA mode (next round chambered and ready to fire). None of the rounds failed to feed or eject, BUT this seems like a problem. I figured i'd ask the experts....

by the way the pistol was field stripped and cleaned to the best i know how the moment it got home from my local ffl.

thanks in advance guys

I would try different types of ammunition before declaring that it has a problem. The slide probably short cycled due to ammunition irregularities, this is common in Eastern European ammunition.

A fairly common problem with these pistols is worn sears that will allow the hammer to follow the slide back down. It may be a good idea to let a gunsmith look at it.

Try the CZ forum, they have an entire section for the 83/82

If it is hammer follow, try to cycle the slide manually, then push the hammer forward and see if you can get to disengage. You also might want to see if your sear spring is engaging the hammer safety block, if it isn't then you can have major problems.

I thought all the new steel was poly coated to prevent that, and it doesn't sound like recoil issue because it is still chambering, I would think that it would fail to completely come into battery if it was that gummed. Call CZ USA, they have a gunsmith on staff who can answer your questions.

My surplus CZ 82 I bought from AIM is now doing this same thing, when I bought it 2 years ago it looked brand new and never fired, anyway I have fired about 500 flawless rounds through it but during my last session the hammer started following the hammer back making it a Double action only pistol, no amount of cleaning has gotten it working correctly. I have heard these are a pain to take apart but I guess I need to.
