I am looking for a pistol for CCW and target also, ( CCW is main reason) but I can’t put too much money this time. At beginning I focused Walther P22, but I heard .22 pistol sometimes will jam except Ruger Mark II style, but I don’t like that style.
A friend of mine suggests me to buy a CZ 82 9x18 ( about $200) or FEG PA63.( about $129) , but I heard PA 63 has recoil and DA problem from this board, I am going to buy CZ. I don’t know if I am right or not and I hope to get some advices here. My only question is if a used CZ will face to parts support problem sometime later?

Thanks!

CZ 82 is a fine gun. While quite reliable many newer shooters find the FEG to be uncomfortable, and can be victims of the slide "snake bite". I'd get the CZ 82. Parts support is near nonexistent with either of these older surplus (soviet) guns, don't let that deter you, they are built well.

The CZ82 is a great gun, suited for concealed carry and quite accurate.

As for parts, Numrich shows NO parts available for the CZ82 and they usually have almost everything. I wouldnt bet on parts support at this point.

Also, the current production CZ-83 and the surplus CZ-82 are essentialy the same gun, just a different caliber

The CZ83 is also 9x18.
I bought a new one a while back.

Another vote for the CZ-82--i bought two of them a little while back, and they are both fine handguns. Comfortable to hold, recoil was stout (but not painful), very accurate, fun to plink with. I don't carry mine, but I wouldn't feel inadequately armed with it.

They don't make the CZ-83 in 9x18 anymore, just .380.

FWIW- You can get the CZ-83 in 9x18 new by special order per website:http://www.cz-usa.com/product_detail.php?id=40

Some old milsurp pistols do have a shortage of factory parts, but there are active enthusiast forums out there to help there, too. I had a chance to handle a PA63 and hated the way it felt. I knew it would bite my hand if I got it, so I picked up a P64 instead. They all have snappy recoil b/c of the power to weight. But it is fairly easy to find replacement recoil springs to help with that. Trigger spring kits to lighten DA action are pretty easy to come by, too. For what it's worth, I have a Mak PM, and a P64. My next commie pistol WILL BE a CZ-82.

Check out CZ forum for more info: Note that the page I liked you to is called the CZ 83 club, but the 83 is the civilian version of the military 82. There's a lot of stuff on the 82 as well.

You can get CZ-82 parts from CZ-USA and I believe you can get PA-63 parts from makarov.com

Black Addler - You made me look! Yes, their website does say the CZ-83 is made in 9x18. But they said 2 years ago that they would not make more barrels in 9x18. What's up? Has anyone ever tried to order a CZ-83 in 9x18 in the recent past?
