So I picked up my CZ 82 from jgsales yesterday. Wow! Very nice little gun. I shot a 4" group at 25 feet without really aiming.

Trigger is very nice with either double action or single.

Recoil is a little snappier than expected - I wouldn't want to shoot more than 100 rounds or so at once.

The white on the sights has been 50% rubbed off.

The paint is somewhat less than new.

I'm thinking of putting some polish on the sights, sanding down the pistol and repainting it (I've heard duracoat is the stuff to use, any comments?) putting some nice wood grips on it, and maybe putting in a heavier recoil spring.

Very happy with it, and at $170 (not counting shipping, then 30 bucks for transfer) a great buy.

The gun store wanted $40 for a box of 50 9x18 FMJ though. ***?!?! Thats as much as I paid for hallowpoints for my .40.

Guess I'll have to order 500 for $119 from jg.

You could try aimsurplus.com. They have good prices on 9x18 FMJ's and HP's. Yes, CZ 82s are great handguns. They are extremely reliable, accurate, comfy, and easy to take apart to do basic maintenence.

BTW, that place is charging WAY too much. I'm pretty sure russian 9x18 hollowpoints are around $13 per 50 rd box at aimsurplus.com

The recoil on my CZ 82 is way smoother than my Makarov. I've shot 200+ rounds with my Mak with no discomfort and I know it would not be a problem shooting more than that with my CZ. The only reason I don't shoot the CZ more is because I have a Mag loader for my Mak. Since it's a surplus pistol and a blowback type, you might want to look into replacing what could be a tired recoil spring to lessen the impact on the frame.

I agree regarding the trigger. I was surprised at how smooth the pull was in DA mode and lighter than I expected.

Fair prices on ammo are available in bulk at various online sites, but the they are sticking it to you in the retail shops.

Accuracy is good at shorter ranges but falls apart (for me anyway) after 30 feet:

5 rounds of Winchester 95 grain FMJ at 21 feet

15 rounds of Winchester at 31 feet
