Here's some information, and the fix, for anyone having/experiencing this problem.

From a different forum:

I've recently purchased a CZ 97B, and after shooting less than 50 rounds of ammo I've experienced a problem.

The threaded barrel bushing has started unscrewing and has jammed itself against the recoil spring housing, causing the gun to function very poorly. The slide stopped cycling completely and felt like it was jammed. That's when I discovered the bushing unscrewing/jamming.

I experienced the same problem. On my second shot, the older single notch barrel bushing turned slightly under the freak situation where the plug must have come out of battery, and when it returned the bushing got caught and bent, and jammed the pistol.

CZ promptly sent me a new bushing. The new bushing has multiple notches and is not quite as deep with threads. The fix was simple, just replacing the screw-in bushing. However, the most difficult part of the fix was identifying the issue because there was so little information on this issue.

I *believe* the new bushing was designed to prevent this very issue. It seems that with only 1 notch, the old style bushing could not always be screwed in tightly to prevent movement while firing, under this freak occurrence. However, the newer bushing with many notches can be screwed in to a hand-tight position and still allow for the alignment of one of the notches.

At any rate, for those CZ97 owners out there, be conscious of this potential issue and the fix.

Appreciate the info. My 1998 has not had that problem, but I ordered one of the new barrel bushings anyway.

FYI: If the barrel stop screw comes loose (this holds the loaded chamber pin in place) the gun will still function but hand cycling will become extremely difficult. This happened on my first time out. CZ sent the new screw ( mine disappeared), I added the blue Loctite and all has been well since.
