After sitting on the fence for 2 years, I decided to order a new 97B. I have a Witness Elite Match .45 that I really like a lot, but the positive experiences I have had with my CZ-75 and SP-01 (both in 9mm) reinforced my desire to have a CZ in .45.

I know the 97 is relatively large, but I have medium+ hands. My main concern is if the 97 will feed my standard 1911 load utilizing a H&G 200gn LSWC. If the 97 is as accurate as my SP, I know I'll be happy.

Odds are, you will have to go to a longer OAL in LSWC under 230 gr.

I prefer the CZ 97B to the "regular" Tanfoglio .45s (never shot an Elite Match version). It is heavier and more accurate; it has almost no felt recoil with that weight.

Mine is as accurate as my Colt 70series 1911.I love it the size is no problem like you think it would be.I think the large frame helps it shoot better. My gun shoots everything without problems.I had Matt Mink of the CZUSA shooting team do a trigger job and is even better.
Hope this helps

I love my 97B and like it even more with a set of Hogue grips (sized for 75B). You have to put it briefly in some boiling water and work quickly (attach to one side and quickly stretch it to the other) to put it on. The gun shoots incredibly well - accurate and low recoil. Enjoy.

It's a wonderful gun. I love mine, and I can attest to the accuracy claims. It is indeed one of the most accurate off-the-shelf .45s on the market.

That's been my experience. Short loads in the CZ97B using SWC bullet designs tend to cause a feed jam, where the nose doesn't tip over and instead drives straight up into the top of the chamber and gets stuck.

Absolutely. I have a love/hate relationship wtih them. I've had four of them, but I always end up selling them in favor of something with equal capacity that's smaller and lighter. Also, the loads that made the CZ happy wouldn't work well in my P220s; the CZ wants them long and the Sig wants 'em short.

For a range gun, they're tops. For potential carry use, I've moved to a M&P in 45ACP.

I love mine, it is slender, heavy, feels great. I have medium-smallish hands as well and I find the 97B grip to look more intimidating than it feels.

hey man, how would you compare the grip on the 97 to the sp-01? i have an sp-01 i shoot right now, i'm tempted to move up to the cz97 but have never seen one in person. it'd be great if the flat grips on for the sp-01 would also fit the 97. thanks.

burningsquirrels,

I'm kinda' wingin' here on the 97. Never held one, so it's a gamble in a way. I have seen pictures on the CZ Forum of the Hogue rubber finger groove grips installed on the CZ-97. I know the 97 is thicker cause the Hogues have to be heated and stretched to fit.

The Hogues on my SP are a match made in heaven. I also have the Hogues on my CZ-75.

thanks for the info.

i think i have smaller hands/short thumbs, because on a stock sp-01 i have trouble reaching the controls. that's part of the reason why i made the flat grips for my 40b... those were easy, since the gun was flat. the 75 family, not so flat :(

With mine I changed the hammer spring to 26#, Recoil spring to 18#, and installed a 1911 tungsten reverse guide rod plug plus a stainless guide rod. Shoot realy flat and comfortable now. It weighs 41 oz now.:)
