I was just wonderinding if anyone has any pics of the internals of the CZ P-01. I was wondering how the fit and finish was on these newer models. I currently own a CZ-75 BD, but I'm thinking about trading up to the P-01 if the internals are better. The internal work on my BD is pretty ugly. My BD is fine for the most part, it's had a hiccup here and there. It hasn't been 100 percent reliable. But it is accurate and a fun range gun. The torture test of the P-01 has impressed me, and the ones that I've fondled have been great as well. I've read that CZ's are hand made and fitted, but the P-01 is suppose to have "improvements in Metallurgy, quality control, and design." If this is the case, then I may definitely do a trade. Any opinions/suggestions on trading? Should I sell or keep the BD? I really want all of my guns to be reliable for personal protection, and I'm not sure that I trust the BD to perform in that role.

I had a P-01. It was absolutely reliable and accurate. I sold it to fund getting a 1911. I have a CZ 75B that has been just as reliable and accurate. I will end up buying another one though. You just can't beat it. I never took it down to the pin and springs so I can't tell you much about the internals. Sorry.

I'm mostly concerned w/ the actual slide and frame internals. My BD has tool marks all over the internals of the slide and you can actually see how uneven some parts of the underside of the slide are from the "hand fitting." If anyone has pics of the underside of the slide and the disassembled parts, I'd love to see them.

Mines not. Seems to be a little better. Mine was new in box and it wasn't as gritty in places like my NIB 97 or the last 75 was. After a couple hundred rounds mine is quite smooth. So I think there is a higher standard on machining. This would probably transfer into the internals, but I don't know. The trigger could of course be better, so maybe that's an arguement against... but then again, the trigger can almost always be better.

I can never keep the details straight, but some CZ frames (depending on the model) are cast, some are forged, and the amount of machining required varies with the type of frame used. I'm pretty sure the CZ P-01 is cast, using new techniques, so its really an apples/oranges comparison.

And triggers seem to vary, from gun to gun, even within the same model line.

My cheesy disposable camera is out of film, so I'll just have to say I tore mine down, and there are no tool marks I can see, and everything looks neat and orderly. Works like a charm, too..... :)

Walt,

Its the other way around. The frame one the PCR is cast. They switched to forged for the P-01 and that is what they are considering 'better metalurgy'.

Dang I really miss my P-01.

The alloy framed CZ's.....CZ40B, 40P, PCR and PO1 a have very nice machining.......better than the Sigs Ive seen and much better than steel framed CZ's. As someone familiar with machining.....its kinda weird as aluminum/alloys can be harder to machine than steel. Go figure..........:D

Shoot well.
