I've decided that my next gun will either be a CZ P-01 or a Sig P226. I've never fired the P-01, but I have a CZ 75 and think the feel of the gun is great. It fits my hand like a glove. I've fired a P226 and thought it was the best 9mm I've ever shot. My dilemma is that I can probably scrape up enough money to buy the P-01 this year but I won't be able to get the P226 for some time. So to those that have shot both, Is the P226 really worth the extra $300? I'm pretty sure I'll have both guns one day, but need help figuring out which to buy next.

I have the CZ PCR model which is the forerunner of the P101 and I have the Sig P229. Both great guns! My expierence is the PCR is lighter and has a much better feel in the hand. Trigger gets smoother with use.
The Sig is blocky and top heavy. Very smooth trigger but doesn't feel as good in the hand.
My choice is the CZ. It is several hundred dollars cheaper and a very reliable gun as is the Sig.

Save a few more pennies and get a SP-01. Worth it. If not, the P-01 is great also.

Most definitely I really love the SIG line. However I am a probably not an objective source as I not a CZ fan (can't stand them) therefore almost anything you might suggest as an alternative to the CZ (Sig or not) would get my vote.

I have a CZ PCR (P-01 without the light rail) and Sig P228. The Sig is harder to conceal and is more of a "service" pistol size. The PCR is lighter, slimmer and shoots a little more accurately for me. It has been 100% in the five years I've owned it. I like both, but the PCR a little better.

The P226 is more comparable to the CZ-75B which I also own. Between the two, the 75B would get the nod.

i have had 4 -226's , 3 - 9mm and a 40sw...

the PO1 replaced all my sig 9mms ... better gun 4 less $$$...
i have had more sigs than i can remember at the moment , none of them has ever come close to any of my CZ's for quality and dependibility...
get the CZ , my PO1 is now my do-everything gun since i gave up on 911's...

The main reason I don't have a Sig is the price. Someone with experience will suggest that you buy a Sig CPO (certified pre-owned). poppy

The sig looks neat and has the whole special ops wanna be thing going for it. The cz is really awsome though. I have shot a number of 226s and I liked them. They just didn't fit my hands though. On my quest for a browning high power I found a cz pcr first. I bought it and at the range it performed flawlessly. superb accuracy, 14+1 clips, the finish on it is good and the grips are great for being standard. I like the sights aswell. both guns are great but I like the PCR (PO1 without rail). The pcr is light as heck and easy to hide away if thats your desire.

I would probably go CZ. You can get a SIG P-226 trade in from CDNN for about the same price.

both are reliable

The sig reliably ejects cases in my face. cz is matter of fact accurate after a few thousand rounds. I don't even aim much anymore they just hit on or close enough. CZ beats sigs on recoil too. ymmv

Look both are as close as youll get for a perfect CCW...some prefer Sigs, Some CZ's......Both are right. Look at the plus's and minus's........for you and go from there. LOTS of holsters are available for both.........
Shoot well

Only SiG I really like is the 220, and I have fired most of them, when I worked at a range. I am a diehard CZ fan, and my PO1 is the best pistol I have owned, bar none.

Long-time SIG fan here, but I also do love the CZs ... my regular shooting buddy has a P-01 that is incredibly accurate, feels great in the hand and has convinced me I need one. The compact CZs are terrific pistols (I actually like the CA-75 Compact or PCR versions w/out the accessory rail better) and I suspect that few folks who know anything at all about handguns would really believe that the CZ was an substantially inferior substitute for the SIG ...

I love the P-01. Shoots bullseyes from the first time you point it downrange, or at least it does for me.

I've shot one that was in heavy rental service; it still looked new and shot like new. Everyone who works at the shop where it was rented has a growing collection of CZ guns. The know them is to love them.:p

The SIG wouldn't be worth the $300 extra to me, though I'd love to have both guns.

CZ vs Sig

I will take CZ every time over Sig. They are just as reliable, but CZ is more accurate for me and fits the hand much better. Awesome guns, can't beat fro the price.

I have the CZP-01, 75BD and Sig 226 Stainless Stock (pretty expensive)

If I had to get a P-01 today to have a new gun to shoot I would do so in a minute.

I use my 75 over the P-01 for longer range sessions. Heavier and less felt recoil, longer sight radius and I put adjustable sights on it. The P-01 goes everywhere with me in a fanny pack behind the seat and on the waist or in a holster out and about.

The 226 is in another class, but costs about three or four times as much. It's more of a games gun or long range sessions. I'm not sure that I'd carry it much due to the weight.

9mm are lots of fun. I also have the BHP Standard, Glock 17 and 34. The 34 is more accurate for me than the P-01, the Browning has a better trigger, but the P-01 still goes everywhere. I like the decocking feature. Very reliable. Very accurate. Looks cool with Hakan grips:)

falconeer

Nope

Don't own a sig. that just happens to me with the ones I have shot. Actually I have made the claim before that if I had a dixie cup taped to the bill of my ball cap I could dump round after round into the cup. Of course I have only had that experience with .357 and 9mm Sigs as they are the only ones I have shot. And of those they have been very accurate and reliable. unfortunately for me this also counts the ejection process.

The sigs I have shot seem to eject more of less straight up and back. Correct me if I recall incorrectly.

The SP-01 is more comprable to a P226, than the P-01.

Both are very good guns, but I would go with the P226 if the price was right.

My most unbiased recommendation will be the Cz-PO1. It is cheaper with the same quality and reliability as the Sigs. It also sits well in the hand than the blocky Sig. I:)

I really love my 228... The one gun I would never ever part with... There are few words if any to describe how I feel about this gun...

But I really want a P-01... it has that whole "euro spec ops wannabe thing" going for it... If only there was a non decocker version with both the alloy frame and the rail I'd definitely buy one... that's the only thing holding me back persoanlly... no cocked and locked... which in my opinion is part of what makes a CZ a CZ...

I Still favor the 228 tho... nothing else compares... not even the 229... blech...

I agree with others that the 226 doesn't compare well with the PO1 which is a compact.

In your situation I would take the CZ just on price alone.

The P228 is okay, but for CCW my favorite SIGis the P225!
