Can a non-Omega P01 be converted from decocker to the safety using CZ or aftermarket parts? Or does it require machining and labor to the point of it being cheaper to buy an Omega version? Found a decocker model for a good price but I was going to do a trigger job anyway using Cajun Gun Works parts and was hoping it could be converted.

I'm pretty sure that a non-Omega trigger P01 cannot be converted from decocker to a frame mounted thumb safety. Unfortunately the P01 Omega has also been discontinued this year. A quick look on Gunbroker had about a half dozen P01 Omegas priced in the $700 to $750 range.

I have a P07 with the Omega trigger and it's quite easy to swap out either configuration as CZ supplies all the parts and DIY instructions can be found in the owner's manual.

I don't think it can be converted by swapping parts only.
Didn't know the P-01 Omega was discontinued, but it doesn't surprise me a bit. Other than the Classic 75, the other pistol models don't last long in their lineup. Cool thing is that they, usually, introduce new, cooler models.

Nope can't be done.

Also CZ does make a safety model P01, but it's a steel frame rather than alloy framed. It's also made in small batches and fetches a nice premium, if you're not willing to open your wallet and drop 1K plus you might as well stay home.

As much as I believe CZ pistols are marvels of engineering on a per-firearm basis, this statement gives credit to the worst trends in CZ corporate strategy for being absolutely miserable at big-picture engineering.
Discontinuing their best models without direct replacement.
Making a surprisingly high number of not-100%-compatible magazine designs.
No coherence at all in strategy.
Short-lived models with specific parts compatibility.

These are things glock figured out decades back and CZ is still bungling to this day.
It's unexpected to see a company with this level of inertia move forward on what can really only be called mistakes.
Footnote: The majority (not plurality) of my firearms are CZUB/Brno.

Not giving, nor taking credit away from anyone. That's a reality with CZ. In reference to the "cooler" comment, well that's subjective.

Footnote: I own a few.

I don't think so. Best bet would be to call CGW and talk to them about your options. Just talked to them the other day. Very friendly and helpful folks.

I have a batch of CZ’s. Three, my P-01 Omega, 97B .45 and Shadow 2 Urban Grey, were discontinued right before or right after I bought them. (The 2075 RAMI was discontinued many years ago.)

All 9mm’s, no 97B in these pictures.

A weird business model for sure.

Stay safe.

I’ve always liked the RAMI but never purchased one. Got my first CZ last weekend thanks to Boogalou here. The CZ-75 PCR is a nice little pistol. Can’t wait to run it through the range this week.

Such a shame. CZ was THAT close to getting it right. If CZ would only follow the advice of the Internet Armchair Board of Directors Keyboard Advisors, they might have been one of the most successful small arms companies in history, producing guns that just about everyone who ever experiences one, likes, and many of whom buy another and another and another.

Oh... wait... never mind. :D

I own one of each color and was going to sell the grey one to finance other purchases but now I may hold onto it for a while and see where the prices go.

For anyone who hasn't followed them closely enough in the past several years to know how they operate.... CZ makes a lot of different guns at any given time https://www.czub.cz/en/media-news/new-catalogue-and-products-for-2022 , and has made a LOT, LOT of different guns over the years. If you find an in-production model that you want to own brand new, you may want to go ahead and buy it soon. If you don't mind having a previously-owned version, there's no big rush because they are always available on the used market after they are discontinued. But, you will likely pay more after they are discontinued.
