I have just purchased a CZ 75B 2004 model Stainless. The only way I can comfortably pull the slide back is to cock the hammer. I normally shoot CCI Blazer 115gr and Federal 124gr FMJ. Can I put a softer recoil spring in without compromising reliablity of the gun. Thanks and have a Happy Holiday.

My CZ is hard to rack as well, I can't do it reliably with the overhand method. I rotate the gun 90 degrees (grip to the right) and pinch the slide with the weak hand, thumb on top and index below. Then push forward with the hand holding the gun and pull back with the weak hand pinching the slide. It is not the fastest, but it works pretty well. I would give that a try, if you haven't already, before changing the springs. The short slide on the CZ doesn't make it any easier.

@Tenacious B - tried your suggestion just now. A little better but still think a lighter spring would help with the loads I fire. Just need to know if it will be OK.

CZs are usually sprug pretty light, from what I've experianced. If you bought it used, someone may have replaced it with a stronger spring, short of purchasing a new one, you wont know. Pick up a 14# spring, and try it.
