I have recently purchased a CZ pistol and absolutly love it, great shooter, and accurate as all get out. I was just wondering how their rifles are as far as fit and finish, quality of materials, and accuracy? They are priced quite well so this is why im wondering. Im guessing its alot like their pistols, you get more than what you pay for. Id be looking for something in a .223 or 22-250, mostly for plinking, target shooting. Thanks

I agree with that statement. I've had a few problems with my 550 American Safari, but they are still great rifles.

I was just looking at the 550 American in a 22-250. What kind of problems are you having with it?

Pistols are "exceptional quality for the price", yes. Haven't had the opportunity to get a rifle, not for lack of trying. Would love one in 6.5x55.

The 452 .22 rifles are legendary for their price and quality. Many PH's in Africa use CZ safari rifles. I've noticed a slight decrease in quality and uptick in price since the late 90's, but nothing too major. The "A" prefix to the serial number is I believe an indication it was made for the American market via CZ-USA, rather than being a true Czech rifle simply imported here. I do not like the "American" style rifles they make. They remove the iron sights, which are some of the finest on any modern production rifle. And they make the stocks plain.

I'd suggest hunting for used ones or sticking to the real European CZ's with iron sights. Particularly the 452 ZKM with tangent sights.

a shooting rifle

After first purchasing a CZ452 Special .22 rifle and liking the quality and enjoying shooting the heck out of it, I decided to purchase one of their centerfires.
I purchased one of the CZ527 Varmint's in .223 and mounted a Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40SF scope. This is a shooting rifle.
Here's a couple of pics.

I have 5 cz's and love them all. The rifles are a great value for the money. My cz's are more accurate than any other rifles I own. Usually at the range others want to know what I am shooting. When they try the rifle they are hooked. The iron sights are amazing.
