I've got a direct thread adapter for my Octane 45 suppressor on the way, but it occurred to me this morning what I'd really like to find for it is a 3-lug barrel adapter. I called SilencerCo (during business hours 3 different times today) and finally ended up leaving a message ... I also emailed TROS as I didn't see one listed on their site ... any other ideas?

I'm a new owner as of yesterday and I took it out and shot it today at lunchtime ... The trigger is a bit heavy but fairly smooth and breaks cleanly ... No optics but I didn't have any trouble holding a 3-4" group at 25 yards. I hope to shoot it a bit more tomorrow. The sights are a bit low and small, but useable, I might throw some sort of optic on it just to see how much it helps.

I've got a 10.5" Colt 9mm upper, an MP5 clone and a PSP-10 and with the little bit I've shot it, I can tell that it's a keeper ... I'm surprised I haven't heard more about it!

I don't know but I do plan on getting a Scorpion myself, hopefully later this summer. If the 922r kit comes out this summer as promised (and at a reasonable price) then I'll SBR it.

E-mail Mark at TROS. He can make you what you need; probably hasn't had many (any?) requests yet, but he can make about anything.
Thanks, I actually emailed him last night and he has them made already although they aren't listed on his site.

I got my Scorpion on Tuesday as scheduled, and shot it yesterday and I've haven't been as impressed with a gun as much as this one in some time now ... This gun is every bit as satisfying as my MP5 clone in semi-auto at 1/2 the cost and has a feature the MP5 clone doesn't ... it holds the bolt back on the last round! It also feels lighter however when I put them on a scale, the MP5 with its collapsible stock weighed about 6.5 pounds as did the Scorpion with the arm-brace ... however the Scorpion has a VFG and an old Aimpoint on it.

I have a direct thread adapter for my SWR Octane 45 which should be here tomorrow ... but even more exciting is TROS makes a 3-lug barrel adapter that I can leave on there permanently and it will count as 1 US made part!

We do need 6 US made parts to be 922r compliant if you are going to SBR it and those kits should be available by mid-fall (according to CZ) ... if the trigger housing was just a bit bigger we could use a US made AK FCG as the FCG in the Scorpion is nearly identical to an AK group, only smaller ... It would be nice if the charge handle were a bit larger and that could be another US made part ... and if a company like Magpul were to make mags, there would be 3 more US parts putting it well over the minimum required!

Without further adieu, here it is;

I got it from mrgundealer on Gunbroker ... Paid $719+35 shipping+20 transfer! stock adapter & tube was $82 and the 3-30 round mags were 116 ... I really didn't need the tube as I already had the arm brace but this tube is about 1" longer & I already had the laptop case as well.

Carried over from the MPX thread .........

Would the charging handle be a countable part? I am not familiar enough with the scorpion to know if that would be an op rod. One needs to remove (and replace) enough "countable" parts to get the Scorpions 16 countable parts downs to 10. The countable parts are:

(1) Frames, receivers, receiver castings, forgings or stampings
(2) Barrels
(3) Barrel extensions
(4) Mounting blocks (trunions)
(5) Muzzle attachments
(6) Bolts
(7) Bolt carriers
(8) Operating rods
(9) Gas pistons
(10) Trigger housings
(11) Triggers
(12) Hammers
(13) Sears
(14) Disconnectors
(15) Buttstocks
(16) Pistol grips
(17) Forearms, handguards
(18) Magazine bodies
(19) Followers
(20) Floorplates

You can add all the US parts you like but unless you remove a listed part it doesn't affect your parts count or 922(r) purposes.

Guns.com reported that CZ has said that the compliance kit would probably include a replacement grip, trigger, disconnector, muzzle device and magazine follower and floorplate. What is interesting is about that is that the same article claims the stock with be a factory foreign made stock which would actually add a part and put one back at 11. However if you are replacing the trigger and disconnector why not also include a hammer and replace the whole FCG. That would by my count put one at 10 even with a factory stock.

One thing that sucks is that for every mag one would need to buy a new follower and floor plate. I don't know what a follower and floor plate will cost but it will add to the price of the mags. Inserting the wrong mag would also be a violation of the law. I really don't like relying on mags for 922r compliance but it may be unavoidable with the CZ.

If they do a grip maybe one with a little less rake would be nice.

My bad for calling the op-rod a charge handle ... I understand how 922r works, I've been playing the game since the '89 ban was passed ... I've even made for myself or had made a few US parts to get my imported part count down ... As much as i hate to admit it, even cutting the threaded portion of barrels off to get around the threaded barrel when there weren't any US made muzzle devises to replace the imported ones :(

This is a great reminder of how stupid 922r is and how it can trip up law abiding gun owners.

Anyway, I've field stripped my Scorpion and removed the trigger box ...

The FCG is in a box like the HK-9x guns are and the FCG is like a miniaturized AK group. It has bolt like an UZI where the bolt & carrier are all 1 piece it seems like making a US made bolt wouldn't require too many processes, same with the firing pin ... and reuse the extractor, and other bolt parts since they don't count anyway. From what I understand plastic injection molding is expensive to set up, but I'm definitely no expert!

The charge handle/op-rod looks to be fairly simple and all one piece but it could be 2 as I didn't take it out ... It works like the HK but different. It's a rod with a handle on it, kind of of like the 10-22 only the handle doesn't lock into the bolt like the 10-22 because the handle doesn't move with the bolt ...

All in all it's amazingly simple ...

Thanks for that info. I haven't had a chance to see the guts of a scorpion yet. I look forward to seeing how the evo and MPX shake out. Personally I hope they're both winners as I wouldn't mind havig both.
