I have $200 lined up and waiting for the tax stamp if they ever release a semi-auto, short-barreled version here in the States. Just saying. :)

Very cool gun and great video. Thanks for posting!

thanks for the pics bohemus, even that i will purchase if ever came stateside:cool:. i prefer the longer barre length in 9mm. just wondering why would you say there is no point on having a longer barrel in 9mm? i have shot my 18" carbine semi auto in 9mm and is accurate out to 50y

Well, main point of pistol caliber carbine is fact that many indoor ranges within the city wont let you shoot rifles. Then short carbine is handy when it fits into backpack/suitcase/briefcase so you can go to the shooting range right from work/school (I have shooting range one bus stop from my university, conveniently on my way home) without anyone suspecting you carry gun.
One guy tried Scorpion with 8" barrel ar 300 meters - there is significant drop (several meters - 4 if I remember correctly) so he managed to hit the targer 17 times out of 20 rounds at best attempt. - I guess longer barrel wont help you much with pistol calibers, maybe if you reload with slower powder..
Also short carbine is quicker transitioning between targets.

Scorpion for gun unfriendly countries.
barrels:
430mm/17"
330mm/13"

thanks for the pics again bohemus, once again dont see why they cant import these stateside:mad: i would definatley buy one in that configuration. heck if they can import the taurus ct9 carbine im pretty sure they could import the scorpion in that sporting configuration.....hello cz usa or czechpoint
recently purchased the vz 61 scorpion in .380, would love to add another to the collection

I keep thinking about buying the Taurus 9mm carbine, but I also hope that HK might the HK SP5K - not a carbine but I would spend my money on it.

But I definitely would buy a CZ made 9m carbine.

I waffled on buying an HK 94, until they disappeared and then it was too late.

I waffled on buying a Ruger PC9 until they stopped making them and it was too late.

I'm not going to waffle on a purchase like that anymore. I don't like the Beretta. If these CZ carbine come into the country I'd definitely pick one up.

Bohemus, very interesting thread, and Thank-You for the link…. It’s not my cup of tea, but still really intriguing to see what’s out there. :D and yes i have a few cz's and think they are great...... take care, dirt

Believe me, I'm happier than most that yet another excellent Czech firearms (or alcoholic) product has made it over to the States, but I must say I am nonplussed; how does one make a direct blowback 9mm carbine for two grand? I don't think even H&K aimed that high with the UMP :neener:

EDIT: I see that site quotes the MSRP at 900$. I wonder why the discrepancy on the 'net regarding the sale price (TFB)? At any rate, I'll take CZ's word over anyone's

EDIT 2: Watching the Noir video in the linked site, I'm a bit stunned. I knew the EVO was significantly larger, but sheesh; it looks bigger than a first-gen UZI! Probably a good thing, as any blowback smaller than that tends to have MAC-like uncontrollability. If the price is truly 900$, they'll have a winner, since the product is undeniably cooler than any 9mm AR, CX4, Taurus, or Hi Point, and a paltry 1/2 to 1/3 the price of the MPX (if it ever gets made).

Not sure I'd have called it a "Scorpion," though; there's nothing of the original left! :scrutiny:

TCB

If this things comes in at the expected price point, truly has $20 mags, and is reliable it will be a winner and blow the MPX out of the water.

Watching the Mr. Noir's video makes me really want one.

If the gun is anywhere close to the $800 mark I'll have to get one! Now that eforms for an SBR are down to around six weeks a guy could have a slick SBR for around $1200.

barnbwt: Yep, the "body" is bigger than that of a vz.58.

CZ-UB has got recently tendency to rip every famous name from czech firearms history, calling new SMG Scorpion after older Škorpión is better than calling new assault rifle "BREN" - after a LMG developed by Zbrojovkas Praga and Brno, made under licence in Enfield...

Bohemus

Thanks for the update! Looks promising if they can hold to the listed price points.

Not quite sure why but I'm ridiculously excited for this. Its refreshing to see a company price a new product correctly. The price has helped me get over the retarded pricing IWI is pulling with their Galil ACE. Can't wait to throw a sig brace on it.

My thoughts exactly. Hopefully they'll be in stores for a bit less than MSRP.

Ditto.

I was just fiddling with it in their company shop in Prague on Wednesday (the SBR semi-auto version with stock for the Czech market) and asked the seller whether I can expect them to drop the price from some $ 1.365 now that they are selling them in US for $900. He said something along the line "the US is a completely different market, you can't compare that."

Yeah, well, #### that. I think they won government orders in Europe with high price tags and now they feel they can't sell them to civilians cheaper due to danger of losing goodwill.

Notwithstanding the price tag I like it still. I just can't decide whether it is better to get the EVO 3 or a P09 with PDW conversion since money is tight and P09 could serve nice also as CC piece.

Šnejdárek: Thats why CZ-UB will not see my money - they think they can treat Czech cutomer as s-hit. Slovaks make nice "KOSA 9mm" vz.58 variant for better price and it uses same coovenient magazines as Scorpion. EVO3s may have slightly better ergonomics, but Iam already used to Vz.58.
