Hello,

I'm a new member and want to thank you for adding me as a member.
I was fortunate to find a beautiful CZ 452 22lr used in mint condition. The three questions I have are as follows.
1. Does anyone have written instructions for adjusting the Tangent sights on my rifle or even a video. I understand the basics but some help would be appreciated.
2. Do members use the 22 cal dry fire caps and if so which ones are recommend.
2. Any preferences in ammo for target shooting and which for occasional small game hunting. (if I can even find any)

Thanks everyone

Sight Adjustment
The CZ 452-2E ZKM small bore rifle sights were sighted-in at the manufacturing plant at a 50 m distance. The tangent rear sight is
provided with lines for 25 - 200 m aimed shooting in diversion steps of 25 m.
After depressing the rear sight-locking piece it is possible to shift the slide for the desired range. Windage adjustment is achieved
after loosing the screw (Fig. 8) on the side you want to shift the point of impact and then tighten the screw on the opposite side. A full turn
of the screw shifts the point of impact 5 cm (2 in.) at 50 m. Elevation correction is carried out by drifting the front sight in a dovetail. The
front sight is secured in its place by a screw. The front side base is provided with auxiliary lines. Drifting the front sight by one line shifts
the point of impact by 1.5 cm (.6 in.) at 50 m.

It should not hurt the CZ 452 to dry-fire it.
But to be sure, use #6 plastic drywall anchors as snap-caps.

There is no telling what ammo your rifle will shoot best.
The only way to find out for sure is try everything you can find and see which is most accurate in your barrel.

I have several CZ'S and basically follow the instructions. I set rear on 50 mark, shoot gun at 50 and make corrections with front blade. One it is set shooting different distances is easy to do by adjusting rear ladder.

Dry firing will not harm your CZ.

Maine;

If you contact CZ-USA, I believe you'll be able to obtain a 452 owner's manual that will cover all the basics, including sight adjustment. Their phone is: (800)955-4486 and they're very nice people to deal with.

As far as ammo goes, good luck! The best hunting ammo, if your gun likes it, is Winchester's PowerPoint, a 40 grain HP at an advertised 1280 fps. Over my Oehler 35P, it regularly chrono's 1250 out of my 452 American. However, I had to buy three C452 American LH bolts before I got one that likes the stuff. I like the ammo well enough that it was worth it to me. Gun 1. is the primary small varmint gun. Gun 2. was accurate with another ammo & got sold, I lost no money. Gun 3. got turned into a left hand Mannlicher as a project gun.

If you haven't already, do go over to rimfire central dot com and join the CZ/BRNO forum. There is a wealth of information there, and very friendly people. However, you now have your first CZ, and in all likelihood won't be your last, they are addictive. It's why the forum over there is frequently referred to as "the ward".

Further to the suggestion to use wall anchors I want to add that the aluminium "snap caps" are not intended for dry firing. You'll quickly ruin the rims and make them useless. The proper snap caps are only intended to be used for action cycling to check for feed issues.

It's also pretty standard for makers of just about everything to have downloadable manuals these days. Here's the page listing all the CZ manuals you can download.

As mentioned you'll also need to just try a bunch of different ammo to find what it likes the best. A while back I was testing a few types of ammo with a couple of my own rifles and found that one did the best with the usually cheap and easy to find Blazer stuff. So there's very little rhyme or reason to it sometimes.

On the whole though I think you'll find that shooting one of the better quality/brand subsonics will generally give the best accuracy.
