I have a chance to pick up a slightly used CZ83 .380 for $ 250.00. Are these things any good and are there parts available? It hold 12 rounds and is the stainless model. It has some holster wear. I don't know any thing about the CZ line however it felt good in my hand. Thanks.

These are excellent pistols that were derived from the CZ-82 developed for the Czech army (and still issued, if I remember correctly). It has a reputation for accuracy and superb trigger pull. The only drawback, and it isn't much of one, is the size and weight relative to the caliber. That wouldn't bother me, however.

The CZ-83 is still available, and therefore parts will be as well. The price you quote is pretty darn good.

I don't believe a stainless model was made. The one you saw was probably satin-nickeled by the factory or hard-chromed by an aftermarket outfit.

I'd go for it.

The CZ-83 is NOT the same as the excellent CZ-75, but it is a good sidearm in it's own right, reliable and accurate. I have fired two, and both shot POA reliably.
It is large for the caliber, but if it fits you like a glove, go for it, and stoke it with top notch ammo. .
