A friend of mine recently showed me a CZ27 that a family member had brought back from Europe after WWll. There's the pistol, holster and mags.
She wants to take it to the range and has asked me about its operation. I think I've got everything sussed out, even the weird safety, but I've never shot one of these guns, or field stripped one. Conditionwise it seems hardly used.

Are there any CZ27 owners out there who could give a little advice? Anything to look for or watch out for?

Thanks,
Jeff

I own a 27.. It belonged to my former father -in-law..who carried it when he was a US Marshal in Alaska during the 40's. After I field stripped it(not as simple as my Sig or Beretta for sure), cleaned and lightly lubed it, I shot it. Nice little pistol. A little light in the ballistics department and a little heavy in weight for the caliber by todays standards but it shoots really nice.
enjoy!

They are good shooters! I would have a gunsmith check it over for you, or do like me, and shoot it with a leather glove from behind cover, for the first few shots:D Seriously mine is is great shape, the springs all functioned, as long as the barrel has no rust or pits, and rifling looks good, lube it up and shoot er.

I've had one since I was 20 and the only things to really worry about is that they don't like certain ammo (mine and a CZ-27 owned by a friend don't like S&B at all, we usually shoot Fiocchi or Winchester ammo out of them), the grips always seem to crack at the top of the grip and the mag springs on some of them are flat worn out and some of the feed lips on the mags that come with them are bent.

Shooting decent ammo out of it and buying a new mag or two will solve two of these problems. I'm not sure what to do about the grips cracking unless you want to buy new ones, but they'll just crack again, I've always wondered if there was some kind of a defect in the plastic used or if that portion of the grip just gets hit more often. Both my friends CZ-27 and my own came with cracked grips and he replaced them and they cracked at the top again within 6 months, I'm not sure why, he didn't subject it to any abuse.

I just use one of those cheap leather Makarov flap holsters to keep it in as it's just about the perfect size. She'll enjoy it, that's also the gun I started my wife on as it's got very little recoil and it's pretty accurate for a .32 ACP.

Sarco has parts and mags for it if sh'es interested in getting some mags and/or parts for it.
