I was at my favorite pawn shop yesterday, and handled a CZ52 that had a barrel stamped "9mm Luger" on it, with the standard 7.62x25 barrel laying beside it(very rusted, I add). Came with 2 mags and looked to be reblued. The CZ52 I own is the zinc oxide or whatever finish that wears off if you take it out of the holster enough. This blued slide and frame model looked really smooth and durable.
Anyways, back to the 9mm issue. I was unaware you could get a 9mm barrel. Do you have to change out the mags, or will it feed 9mm RELIABLY?? How much do these extra barrels cost? By the way, they were asking $179 for it....

An extra 9mm barrel runs about $90 dollars, give or take a few. The same magazines should work fine with the 9mm, too. The 7.62x25 is actually a lengthened and necked down 9mm. The only thing required to change back and forth is dropping in the barrel, as long as it has the rollers attached, and it should.

With both barrels it sounds about right, but that really comes down to the shape it's in. If you can make one nice one, you'll also have 4 mags. :)

I guess this doesn't add much to the thread, but I own a CZ52 with both barrels.
The barrel drops right in, and everything works fine. I haven't shot it a whole lot, maybe 50 rounds, but it seemed to be fine.
The two different finishes, I am told, is the result of one gun being refurbished by the arsenal. I can't remember which is which but I THINK the blued gun is the original finish and the phospate finish is the refurbished one.

Dumb question, but is a CZ52 strong enough to handle something like 10mm? What about 9x25 (I know very little about 9x25)

It's my understanding that of the two common CZ-52 finishes, the darker, black-colored finish (often referred to as "blued") is found on the arsenal-refurbished guns. The original issue finish is the lighter gray finish, often referred to as "gray parkerized".

I'm not so sure about 10mm functionality, as far as pressure goes, in the CZ.

After all, we'd have a rifle lockup and brass designed for the pressure.

But I like it in 7.62x25, think that the 9mm conversion is a waste of time, and'd be more interested in a 1911 mag release conversion.

Too, with advancing age, I wonder about a Doctor sight mounted on the slide.

Then, too, I'm a known sick puppy!
