Recently I returned a defective kel tec pf9 and a small hoard of magazines to my dealer and while I was there I spied a CZ75. I have a 4th gen G17 but DAMN that cz felt nice in the hands,it just felt more real. (and looked a lot better to boot.) Winter is coming and being a large guy I feel comfortable carrying a service sized handgun with a jacket. My question is does any one think the extra 10 or so ounces would really matter? The glock is the first handgun I've carried so I have no reference. Still in the market for a small hand gun but my g 17 might get traded first. Opinions?

P.S. IWB carry maybe shoulder rig

With the right holster and a good belt I don't think there would be any difference. The CZ would be quite a bit thinner than the Glock. I rotate a CZ85 Combat in my carry guns and it is easy to conceal and very comfortable. I use a JPB and it keeps it tight to the body.

It will make a difference, over a long day -- but it may be worth it.

You can also look at one of the ALLOY-Framed guns (PCR, P-01), as they are only slightly smaller, feeling the same in the hand, and are much lighter. (They are decocker-based guns, so you can't do cocked and locked.)

I carry a lot more than 10 ounces I would be happy to get rid of, love handle style! I carry a Glock at work and CZ SP-01 Phantom or CZ P-01 off duty, and I have no issues whatsoever. the holster and belt combo go a LONG ways, such as this High Noon combo of the Rock Steady belt and Down Under IWB. The big Phantom disappears under a light t-shirt in AZ heat with this setup with no problem.

If I had a CZ-75B I would carry it in a heartbeat over the Glock, BUT that's my personal bias showing through. :)

A good holster and especially belt will largely offset the extra weight of the steel CZ75. It is surely no heavier than a 1911, and its fans claim (rightly) that it is easy to carry with the right equipment.

I can forget that my full size .45 Witness is behind me, but I quickly remember if I sit down too fast!

thank you all for your quick reply's I think Tuesday I'll take the plunge my love of plastic guns is fading quick.

I love my glock 17 3rd gen but if the CZ feels better to you then you should make the switch IMO.

Another vote for the alloy framed PCR, P-01 or polymer P-07 which CAN be carried cocked, and locked.

On a side note, you'll appreciate the natural pointability of the CZ vs your Glock. It's the main reason why I'm selling my G21SF and getting a 97b.

Just a note on the alloy framed PCR. It's got the same HEAVY rubber grips as my Shadow. A switch to the flat metal grips often used for IPSC would not only lighten the gun by about 2 oz but also make it thinner. The listed weight, I assume with empty mag, is 1.7 lbs or just over 27oz. Take off 2oz for the grip switchover and it's now just around 25'ish oz. And on a 75b guns the grips are the fattest part of the gun by far so slimming it down would make it all the more concealable.
