I recently purchased a S&W Model 36 3'' blued S.N. 506105. Does anyone have info as to approx. date of mfg?

Are you sure this is the serial number? The serial will be on the very bottom of the butt. Numbers on the frame under the cylinder crane are often factory assembly numbers and not related to the serial. If this is the correct serial my guess would be 1953 or so. If there is a letter J in the serial (amazes me how many people ignore letters in the serial numbers on guns) then 1976 or so. If it was made after 1957 the model number (Mod 36) will be stamped on the frame near the cylinder.

mod 36 is stamped on the frame and there are no letters in the serial no. on the butt.

About the best I can do is 1962 ser number=295000 and 1969 ser number 786544.So yours is between 62 and 69,My best guess is approximately 1965????
