Let me say first that I have large calibers both in revolvers & autoloaders, but have acquiesced to the arguements of using the larger bores in the home. The big-booming noise, blinding muzzle flash, bullets through your neighbor's sheet rock, on & on. My question deals with the mode one leaves their gun while asleep...I find more assurance in grabbing the gun and not fiddling around with a safety while say in a "cock-n-lock" mode. I certainly don't want to jack the slide while coming out of a sleep. A stiff DA pull would not be an accident while half-asleep and in my case using the S&W 547 revolver. I know with a 110% certainty it will fire where aimed...BTW, I use Fed 9mm+ 105 EFMJ for my home defense....What mode is your nightstand pistol/revolver in?
