Over lunch yesterday I made the mistake of stopping into a pawn shop that happens to be on my "favorites" list. There sat a used and abused Remington Model 1100 12 gauge. It is an older gun with a Modified, fixed choke and vent rib. The stock is pretty scratched up, and there is rust sprinkling on the sides of the receiver. I removed the barrel, and the gun has grunge from eons of use without cleaning. Bore, however, is remarkably shiney. When asked for a price, the owner, who knows that I have a Concealed Weapons Permit (and, therefore, do not have to do the FBI Instant Check phone call thing), says "$200."
Now I need that gun like Myrtle Beach needs a load of sand! For $200, however, for a user.....
It now sits in a corner of the gun cabinet awaiting cleaning. (By the way, in a negotiated settlement with the pawn shop, I also toted out a vet-bring-back Japanese Model 99 "Last Ditch" rifle for an additional $50.)
