Over lunch yesterday I made the mistake of stopping into a pawn shop that happens to be on my "favorites" list. There sat a used and abused Remington Model 1100 12 gauge. It is an older gun with a Modified, fixed choke and vent rib. The stock is pretty scratched up, and there is rust sprinkling on the sides of the receiver. I removed the barrel, and the gun has grunge from eons of use without cleaning. Bore, however, is remarkably shiney. When asked for a price, the owner, who knows that I have a Concealed Weapons Permit (and, therefore, do not have to do the FBI Instant Check phone call thing), says "$200."

Now I need that gun like Myrtle Beach needs a load of sand! For $200, however, for a user.....

It now sits in a corner of the gun cabinet awaiting cleaning. (By the way, in a negotiated settlement with the pawn shop, I also toted out a vet-bring-back Japanese Model 99 "Last Ditch" rifle for an additional $50.) :D

...that's why i quit goin' to pawn shops that i can afford, i always seem to walk out with something each time i go... just like "wally-world"... i don't need it but the price is good...

...so now i visit high profile gun dealers, and all can do is look and drool... although the last time i did that i walked out with my 870... and i'm planning to go back this afternoon to check out a Benelli Nova... Yikes!

peace,

$200??!! Whadadeal.....

A couple things...

Be careful when poking around in the receiver, some of the thingamajigs in there are sharp.

Over on Shotgun Report, Bruce Buck has some stuff on keeping old 1100s ticking along.

Let us know how it shoots...

LOL!!! Thats the same thing my grandmother told me about the Thomspon 1927 I was looking at!

I bought it anyway. It cost me a little more than $200 though...
