Daisy 840 "silver streak" refurb

I have my grandads 840 that i gave him probably 25 years ago. The seal is shot and i have never opened one of these up. Is it worth the effort to fix it or is it just a sentimental junker?

If I do the surgery on it, what else should be done while it's opened up?

I'd reseal it. When you get it apart you can see if anything else is in need of attention. The parts list shows what is still available for it.
