Nothing serious here... Just wanted to share a fun story...

There is a show in Dallas this weekend so my buddy and I decided to go early and see if we can find some nice deals... The show opened at 9am and we got there about 5 till 10. The line was at least 1000 people deep and it took us almost 30 minutes to get inside. It was a total madhouse... The number of times I overheard some one say "Obama special" or "This is because of of the election" was absurd...

I did notice that most popular guns ended up being marked up by about 20%. As few examples... basic AR that was going for $700 last show was pricing it at $850, your typical glock 19 normally $500 to $550 was going for $600+, hi cap mags about $5 to$10 over last shows prices...

I still saw people walking out with four and five rifles at a time... countless cases of ammo...

There was a very special buzz in the air... I cant really explain it but it was a blast just being there and seeing it. That and I did get a good deal on a DPMS lower + kit...

Good times!
V.

It's part of the new economic stimulus package.

Heck, I'm guilty of being part of it. Got a few hi-cap mags ordered recently for various rifles.

Plan to buy more ammo, even though I have a small arsenal by media standards.

I elected NOT to go to Market Hall this weekout, due to the expected crush. I'm glad that folk are buying, but I'd feel even better if they also took the time to write their CongressCritters and let 'em know that the RKBA is a sensitive topic.

Do you recall how much the Saiga's were selling for?

Voland, we showed up about the same time and saw the line. We estimated it was over 400 yards long and that (like you) had over 1000 folks. We figured that was just amazingly crazy since the show had been open for an hour and knowing the close quarters of the rows in Market Hall, opted to just go shooting instead.

HOWEVER, a buddy of mine went on Sunday and said it was busy, but no lines or such, LOL.

I was actually driving down the tollway to meet Double for the show when he called me, warning me of impending crowds. Though sadly I did not go shooting, I did go to the show on Sunday. It was my first gun show, and I will say it did meet my expectations. Many guns, some deals, some steals and some things that had prices that were way too high. I had my eye on one of the 199.99 sks, but I stopped myself because they seemed a little on the sketchy side.

On another note, I don't think I've seen that many 'NObama' stickers and heard the words 'Crime Tax' so much in the recent months. I just have to remind myself, if anything will happen, it will happen after January 20th.

Same experience at Birmingham this weekend. That is, until the Alabama-Auburn game arrived...

Un-be-freakin'-lievable.

Tell me about it, I was just at our Gun show here in Kalispell MT, Romanian WASR 10 (stamped Receiver) $719.00:what:
$10 will get me to the next town west of here where there is one for $475.00
Has there ever been a time when Gun shows were a place to find Deals?

Went to the show today and yep, Saiga's and WASR's at exhorbitant prices. Standard Glocks were up to the prices that the less expensive big box sporting goods stores charge. Ex. Glock 19 for $525.

However, there was a whole table of used Glocks for $359 a piece - 2nd gen 19s, 17s, 22s, 23s.

Ammo - you do better in the big stores.

Plenty of AR's around - no shortage that I could see. If the economy continues to tank - expect the used gun market to bloom in a few months.

Some funnies:

Guy wants a speed loader for his SW 625 revolver in 357. The dealer winked at me. A dude selling a rifle - says its worth $2K but he'll go for 200 as he needs the money.

A guy sell a hicap ParaOrd 45 in desert colors - the only one that escape the special forces to the civilian market.

I love it. A guy that just forked out money on a gun ain't gonna turn around and hand it back to .gov when they begin their voluntary buy backs. Ammo is where they are going to hurt us. as Chris Rock once said, "If a bullet cost $5000, then there would be no more drive-by spray and prays, ain't no innocents gonna be hurt no more." Makes sense in a way. Git yur bullets folks.
