This is a response to all the folks unhappy with gun shows. I likely have not been to yours but it is hard to believe they are worse than in Dallas. I envy many of the gun show finds and deals I see posted.

Even so, I think Dallas shows are worth the admission fee. Is there a deal at every table? Not to me. Have I ever gone home with all my money? I cannot think of the last time. In fact most times I leave a few hundred dollars poorer.

Why? Because I almost always find 1-2 deals per show.

I think the key to gun show happiness is to have a broad enough gun interest list that something will float your boat. I have enough guns, calibers, and future interests that I see lots of interesting things. Also sometimes I see a such a great deal that while I can’t actually use the item, I can easily sell/trade it to my advantage.

Obviously if you only have a couple gun interests or you don’t know good deals to take advantage of for reselling or trading, Dallas shows may not interest you as much as they do me. Plus, the secret art of negociation can turn an ok deal into a good deal. In my last gun show adventure, I only paid the asking price in 33% of my buying.
