A police officer waiting at a traffic light at the intersection witnessed the shootings and stopped to help when the second car crashed, police Sgt. Gil Cerda said. Police policy prohibited the officer from pursuing the fleeing vehicle because he already had a prisoner from an unrelated case in his back seat, Geron said.
Prisoner or no prisoner...........police have feelings too!
I don't know if I were that cop and had just witnessed such a brazen display of fire power, that I would want to go chasing a car into the night and head first into muzzle flash.
If I understand it, bullet proof vests don't provide cover for your head.
