Damn Fedex

I think some of you missed the boat when replying to my topic. I'm not pissed at Fed Ex for having a signature requirement, I can respect that and just never use them. My issue is that parts of PowderValleys site are misleading and state that they only ship UPS. UPS doesn't have this requirement and I have never needed to sign for my powder or primers before. Next time I will have to be very clear with Powder valley or I will order from someone else.

The other part of my frustration was that once my order was shipped via Fed Ex I was stuck, and their policies made is darn near impossible to get my package with out me having to go way out of my way to get it. Remember, I already paid for shipping once, I shouldn't have to drive to another city to get it. I find that infuriating.

Those folks like to go home as well - How are they to know who works when? If you can't be there, you need to make different shipping directions or have it delivered to where you are going to be

I know everyone wants to go home. But this is FedEx and delivery is what they do. And this problem isn't rare or complicated. For these special circumstances (sig req'd failed delivery on first attempt and customer calls and says he can't be there during delivery times) have a secondary system. A few evening drivers to make special deliveries between 6-9pm. It doesn't seem unreasonable.

Fedex, like UPS, has each truck maxed out with a certain delivery sequence so as to enable them to make as many deliveries as possible each day.

Now, having their drop off centers open later would be a lot easier to do, but they deliver so many packages on a daily basis it would be impossible unless there was a way, like overnight in reverse, but then the shipper/recipient would be paying more. If I knew I wasn't going to be home, I would leave instructions to leave with my neighbor (and alerted them of course it was coming) - especially if it was valuable or needed a signature - they will do that without too much of an issue - unless your next door neighbor is a mile away down some dirt road.... ;)

They keep their prices as low as they can by providing basic, efficient service - if you want special service, it costs extra

I today received a PV order of 10k primers and 8# of powder, delivered UPS. NO sig required. Left at back door. I'd suggest to the OP that he simply request UPS ONLY for shipping from PV. They're nice folks. They'll probably cooperate on shipping carrier.

^^ That's what I do-- request UPS in the special instructions box. Works for me. Otherwise, leave a note at your door for the package to be left with your neighbor. I do that too.

Jeff H,

Not to throw sand in your face, but my order came tonight @ 1845, a tad later than normal, but finally got here. The address tag was pulled a bit loose, but was taped back down, driver must be just learning to read. ?? Anyway, the 500 SWC's got here, now with it lightly snowing here, maybe I'll load some tomorrow. Hope your PV order gets there soon.

I think if you call the 1-800-Fedex #, they can change the delivery point to where you work. I know that I have done this with UPS in the past.
