Looking for some insight on this revolver. Yes, I have been to the Dan Wesson Forum.

My LGS has a 15-2 in on consignment. 6" barrel in excellent condition with the original box and toolkit. It appears to have been made at the Monson plant. Its a beauty and very comfortable in hand.
Asking price is $850, which seems about $200 to high. Any thoughts on the current DW used revolver market?

I'd say that's high, but I haven't seen one with the box and such since they were on the "new gun" side of the case.

Around here, Dan Wesson's are normally priced about the same as a Smith & Wesson.

I haven't kept up with the price but do own a Monson made one that's the VH-8 model. It's the most accurate revolver I've every owned including my S&Ws. Also consider this, it may be the only one you ever find. It also couldn't hurt to try haggling a little on the price. The worst he can do is say no.

You are right. About $200, even $250, too much. Used Dan Wessons took a major price jump when CZ released the new ones.

They are great revolvers - highly accurate. The consignment price is about $200 to high.

Offer 700 out the door (625 + tax, reg fees, etc) and you'll be about ok. It's a consignment, so the seller is the one who will take it or leave it.

If it's still there a month from now, offer him 675 out the door.

I have two, one was a pistol pack with the 2,4,6 and 8" barrel/VH shrouds, I think I paid $950 about a decade ago for it. It's practically brand new, and had all the parts (Fitted case, sights, grips, a belt buckle and patch, too).

The second was a frame only that I paid 275 for about 4 years ago, and I got a 3" barrel/VH shroud from EWK (when they offered them) for about 180.

They're great guns, I like mine a lot.

I'll just echo what everyone else says... They are excellent pistols, and unless that one is super double extra cherry... it's about $150-200 too high.

The new CZ DW's are absurdly priced (IMHO,) and that is causing artificial inflation on the old ones.

From what I have seen here in NW Pennsylvania, its at least $250 too high. They sell for $450-550 here and I don't think the box adds much value

They are also on Gunbroker almost always. That price is too high. I wouldn't even pay 600 unless it was at least 95%. They are excellent guns. My favorite gun is a Dan Wesson 15-2.

Hope your offer is accepted.

I gave $350 for my Monson 15-2 with 8 inch barrel a few years ago but it had been neglected for many years and was in far from excellent condition with surface rust and split target grips. Elbow grease and CLP recovered as much of the finish as I could and Hogue Monogrip and I was in business. Excellent shooter and the accuracy is definitely there. Double action trigger is ok but the single action trigger is excellent.

Just to make you see how much these guns have increased in price since 2006:

My first gun bought off Gunbroker was a near new DW 715 6VH, in the original box, with the tool (broken), 3 grips, (rubber, original, and custom finger grooved walnut?), and some parts.

$269 + $15 shipping + Transfer fee.

Even back then, it was a major steal. Usually, a deal like this would have been $400 or more.

I couldn't figure out why only two of us were bidding on it.

Ditto what everyone else said. With only one barrel that is a bit high.. Good gun though... I have the same revolver.. I don't care for it's double action trigger pull but shooting single action those guns will flat out SHOOT. When shooting single action I would put it's accuracy up there with the very best revolvers...

They had a cherry 6" one at a local Pawn Store for $499 about 5 months ago. Still kicking myself for not buying it, but I was looking for a 4" gun.
