so I have a Dan Wesson 445 super mag, with a 4 inch compensated barrel, its called the Alaskan Guide Special. I have always wanted to put a longer barrel on it for long range target shooting but finding the gun was hard enough let alone longer shrouds and barrels. But the thought crossed my mind, the 44 mag Dan Wessons I have seen here and there, sometimes with the longer barrel I desire. would the barrels feom the 44 mags fit on my 445? Would it be safe?

If someone here doesn't know the answer (and someone probably does...) head over to the Dan Wesson forum. I'm not sure if there is a different thread pitch on the SM barrels. If you are looking for other barrel assemblies and such, that is also a good place to check.

Call CZ-USA. They own Dan Wesson. I got a 6" light barrel to replace my 8" heavy barrel for my 744 after I stopped shooting handgun silhouette.

NO, they aren't interchangeable and for good reason, legal liability, the 44 mag barrels are thinner and won't safely handle the 445 pressures so DW made them non interchangeable, just as they did for all the Supermags, there's a dealer on the DW forums; EWK Industries, that makes custom barrels for less than DW charges for new barrels, don't know if he's made any 445's but you could ask, I've been trying to get him to run some 357 SM barrels and shrouds, he needs enough demand to make it worth his time though.

Shhhh! Leave Eric (EWK) alone! He's working on the .41 barrels and shrouds right now! ...my prayers have been answered.
