I've got 3 problems with this gun that I need some help with.

First, there are a couple spots on the gun where rust has started. This gun is not mine, so it was not taken care of the way I would have taken care of it. I cleaned the gun and some of the rust came off. There are still some spots with rust. I was told to use a silicone cloth. What else will take off the rust?
--------And on the cleaning of a revolver, I was told just to spray gun cleaner into the action to clean the crap out. Then put 2-3 drops of oil infront of the hammer then cycle the gun a couple times. Is this the correct way?

Second, where would I find a "latch retaining screw" for a gun like this? Last time I shot it we found that the screw had backed out and we had lost it. Do I just go to a gunsmith? Or do I have to call CZ?

Third, when shooting this gun it misses one round. When dry firing it there is one round it misses all the time. It's like the cyl doesn't rotate enough to latch again in that one particular round. What could be causing this?

I'm a newb in revolvers, expecially double action. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a million!!!!!!!

Before performing all these task I would get an OK from the owner first.
While some people recommend cleaning that way you aren't guaranteed to do a good job. You really should take the sideplate off so you can see to clean, lube, or adjust rather than spray, squirt, and hope for the best.
I'm not sure on the large frames, but the small frames have a pin that holds the latch in place. You can check with CZ or Numrich (Gun Parts) for parts.
I would look closely at the ratchet on the cylinder. With constantly missing one chamber it sounds like the ratchet has been damaged.

The gun is my Dad's, he's given me the ok to do whatever. I didn't see a side plate on this gun. I see one on the Taurus .357, but not the Dan Wesson .44.

So CZ is the only way to get the retaining screw?

No. What this will do is simply drive the dirt fully into the mechanism, unless you diassemble the whole thing. Generally, unless you can feel a definite binding or "sandy" effect when you pull the trigger, it's probably OK. Adding oil in the manner described will not lubricate the areas that actually need it.

Yeah, I know they call it a screw - but I've yet to see a DW where the latch wasn't retained by a roll pin. When you open the cylinder, does the latch try to spring out of it's recess? If not, your pin is still there and is fine.

Third, when shooting this gun it misses one round. When dry firing it there is one round it misses all the time. It's like the cyl doesn't rotate enough to latch again in that one particular round. What could be causing this?

A couple of thoughts. If it's always the same chamber either 1) the ratchet is damaged, and the hand won't pick it up; or 2) the locking recess on the cylinder for that chamber is damaged/too shallow, allowing the cylinder to over-rotate and bringing the primer past the firing pin. Check both.

Regarding the sideplate, large frame DWs don't have them - the triggerguard carries the action, and pulls down from the frame in the manner of a Ruger revolver.

Hope this helps.

The latch comes off when you open the cyl.

The cyl under-rotates on that one round. So I guess it'd be a ratchet.

So are both of these things that CZ would have to fix? Or could I take it to any gunsmith?

The gun does not have a gritty feel to it, I just wanted to clean it. I attempted to take it apart, but it stumpted me. Then I found a place online that told me the 2-3drop lubrication method. So is there any other way of lubricating the gun w/o taking it completely apart?
